  Kyle Miller Introduction
Posted by: Skyon16 - 09-25-2018, 11:13 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (3)

I'm a Sophomore at JMU majoring in Computer Information Systems and I'm from Hampton Roads. I currently have a 2001 Honda Civic Sedan (with no engine modifications because the D17 engine doesn't like mods all that much) and I also own a 1989 Yamaha WR500 (waverunner 2) which i had working two years ago but the engine is now seized up. I am a big rotary fan and dream of getting an FD RX7 eventually. I am looking into getting an older dual sport to get into bikes.

  Weird sound coming from trans
Posted by: ryanschulien - 09-24-2018, 11:40 AM - Forum: Technical Discussion - Replies (6)

A few months back I put Ford Racing Hot Rod Cams in my 06 GT. Prior to this install, I had no issues with the car and no odd sounds coming from my trans. After the install, I started noticing a "chattering" sound that seems to be coming from my transmission. I only hear the chattering noise when I am in neutral or if the clutch is engaged (clutch pedal let out). When I am driving/shifting gears, I hear no noise and the car seems fine. No performances issues. I've taken it to a couple of shops, including a hot rod shop that's had experience with Mustangs, and each one has said the Throw out bearing is the issue. Had a new Exedy Mach stage 350 clutch & Throw out Bearing along with an Exedy flywheel installed after the install of the cams in hopes of fixing this issue. Had the throw out bearing changed three times since the cam install, and still hearing the noise. Anyone know what this could be and if it is potentially harming my car?

  Hunter Smith Intro
Posted by: HunterSmith - 09-22-2018, 11:43 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (12)

I'm currently a freshman at JMU with a major in chemistry and a minor in pre-dentistry. I'm from Madison, Va (about an hour away from JMU over the mountain) and I grew up on a family cattle farm with plenty of land to mess around on with four-wheelers or trucks. I came across Madison Motorsports on the JMU club page and it caught my eye since I'm into cars/trucks, specifically trail riding. I ran across the forum and figured it be a good place for me since I spend a large amount of my times on Tacomaworld.com with over 1,000 posts.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma SR5 that has been lightly modded with many plans for the future when my budget allows it. Here are a few specs/mods:
- 2001 4x4 SR5 extended cab with ~130k miles
- 2.7cyl with 5-speed manual transmission
- 18" Magnaflow muffler
- 33x12.50x15 BFG KO2s
- Bilstein 5100s front and rear
- Old Man Emu 881 coils
- 1.5" Progressive Add-A-Leaf from Wheeler's Offroad
- Plastidipped badges
- CaliRaisedLED Side-Projecting LED Pods on Rago Fabrication Ditch Mounts
- Kenwood Head Unit
- Sound Ordnance M-1500 Amp
- Sound Ordnance B-24 Subwoofers (Yes, I managed to fit two 12 inch subs in the tiny portion of my extended cab)
- Finally, a beautiful dent on the driver's side rear corner from my brother via a tractor bucket (on accident of course)

  Ryan Schulien Intro
Posted by: ryanschulien - 09-20-2018, 04:59 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (5)

What's up guys. My name is Ryan Schulien. I just transferred to JMU from The University of Alabama as a sophomore. I am currently pursuing a degree in Finance in COB, but my dream is to own a performance shop of my own. I currently drive a Vista Blue with silver stripes 2006 Mustang GT 5-speed and my dad has a numbers matching 1969 Pontiac GTO. I've always loved cars, and loved working on mine, but I don't have all of the mechanical knowledge that I want. With that being said, if anyone is working on a project and wouldn't mind teaching me some more about how to work on my own car more than I do, I'd love that. I also want to get into the drag racing scene and see what kind of times my car can put down. I'm really excited to meet everybody and see what Madison Motorsports is all about!
****No crowds were harmed in the making of this build Smile****

Couldn't get close enough for a pic but saw a white Ford work van with a bunch of ladders on the roof rocking a mm sticker on the back window around the Midlothian area. Anyone know who this is?

  Lightning Lap 2018 Results
Posted by: G.Irish - 09-19-2018, 05:16 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (13)

Several of the new supercars were not only faster, but obliterated the previous high watermark set by the Ford GT.  The Mustang GT performance pack was also pretty damned impressive.  Closer than it really should be to the GT350R, but some of that might be driver and conditions.

  Title retrieval process
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 09-18-2018, 01:57 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (29)

Has anyone ever had to go through the process of getting a lost title for a car?

I'm curious as to how difficult it is. How cheap does a car need to be to take the plunge, or is it rarely worth it?

Crazy Dealership Scandal Involving GT3(RS)'s, Deposits, and $2.5 million
Posted by: G.Irish - 09-12-2018, 02:13 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (26)

So apparently Champion Porsche, one of the largest P-car dealers in the US had a VP who was defrauding customers who put down deposits for GT cars to the tune of $2.5 million.  Apparently about 25-30 people put down sizable deposits on cars, and he routed the money through a fake business account and skipped town.  Bunch of the victims calling the dealership and being told to talk to their attorneys.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-gt3r...li-13.html

This is kinda fascinating to me as I've watched the GT car feeding frenzy build in intensity for a couple of years now to the point that it's as crazy or crazier than the Ferrari purchasing process.  Seems like in the enthusiast game, anywhere there's a lot of hype, inevitably scammers will appear.
