Wayback Request: Anyone have pics of the PTG Racing and Ferrari of Washington Tours
Posted by: G.Irish - 11-05-2018, 02:30 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (8)

The F1 came up in the student group chat and that got me to thinking about the PTG tour the club did back in 04, and the Ferrari of Washington tours we did.  Does anyone have any pics of that chillin on their hard drive somewhere?

  Cheap Canvas Prints.

Hey everyone. I was looking for a place to make a pillow with a picture on it and found that this site claims to be 93% off on prints? Ordered a really big canvas print of my old E30 for like $20. Seems like a slamming deal

Rich Car Guy Problems: Montana License Plate Tax Dodge Crackdown
Posted by: G.Irish - 10-29-2018, 11:05 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (81)

As some of you may know, there's a tax avoidance/evasion scheme that some car guys have been using for a number of years where they register their car to Montana so they can avoid paying sales tax (or car tax).

The state of Georgia just decided to crack down on this since apparently 100's of supercar buyers have been registering LLC's in Montana to get around paying tax on these cars.  The two guys that the Georgia Dept. of Revenue decided to make an example out of apparently bought 50 cars in 4 years between the two of them and owe $1.6 million in taxes.

I've been bemused by this, and some of the reactions to this story.  I'm kinda like, if you're gonna use a sketchy tax loophole, don't cry when the tax man comes for dat azz.  Especially on an ultra luxury purchase like a supercar.

  Vintage MM & NASA outergarments

Hey nerds.

I'm purging a bunch of my stuff. Wanted to see if y'all wanted it.

I have 2 MM hoodies from the original run. They're in good shape. I also have one of the NASA Staff cold weather jackets, a NASA fleece vest, and an LL Bean Subaru jacket.

$10 each for beer money if you want one? Seem fair?

Stand by for sizes, but I wanna say the hoodies are XL, and the Jacket is a XXL.

Max Samoylov intro: Miata + ae86
Posted by: maxsam - 10-10-2018, 07:35 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (16)

What's up my guys, I'm Max. I'm a computer science major just transferred from blue ridge community college. Lived around Harrisonburg for like 13 years now. Currently have 2 cars I bought, my Miata and my ae86. As you can tell, I'm into those lighter weight rwd Japanese cars.
Miata is a 1990 with like 200k miles on it. Didn't run or drive when I bought it, changed fuel pump to start it then changed clutch to get it driving. It's got some stiffer springs but otherwise all stock. Has a vlsd!
Also bought the ae86 as not starting. Changed rotted fuel lines and got it driving. It's got a s13 ka24de swapped in from previous owner. I mainly put in the two front seats, got those wheels, front bumper, and other stuff. Has a welded diff, still the weak sr5 rear end. Rides on bumpstops. Gutted interior from prev owner. No hvac system or power steering. Not pleasant to drive but it's cool I guess.
I used to drive a right hand drive bmw e39 540i wagon.

Autocrossed my Miata several times, took it once to a Shenandoah drift event a while ago. Also took my ae86 to a drift event once. I want to get more seat time with grip and drifting, but first kinda want to condense into just 1 good car instead of 2 mediocre ones haha.

Pic of my Miata drifting. No pics of my ae86 unfortunately.

  ISO an Integra door handle

Hey everyone,

So unfortunately today I tried to open the door on my teg and the drivers side handle snapped. Anybody have one they'd be willing to part with/know where I could get one for a good price? Cypress Green color would be a huge plus.
Thanks!

Hey guys I have been enjoying my 330ci 5spd as a fun daily for the past year, and the time has come to start turning it into more of a track car so I can get into hpde more.

For those of you that don't know my car it is a 2002 BMW 330Ci Steel Gray with a 5 speed manual. It has just over 130k miles right now and some mods. I picked up the car from Jason Towers in August 2017 and loving it ever since. A lot of maintenance work has been done to the car already including the whole cooling system, gaskets, clutch/flywheel, etc. The only 2 modifications besides upgraded parts during maintenance are the Brembo 4 piston BBK front and rear, and an Evo 3 SSK.

The plan as of now is to work on suspension and drivetrain so that it works for both street and track until I buy another daily. My main concern is wheel fitment. I am planning to run 255/40R17 Falken Azenis FT615K+ on Apex ARC-8 17x9 et42. To fit that wide of a tire I will have to run negative camber and need camber plates. The stock strut mounts are taller than most camber plates and could drop the car more than I want in the front; however, these hybrid plates from Ground Control may solve the issue.

https://www.bimmerworld.com/Suspension-S...hvEALw_wcB

The  other supporting mods going on the car mid December:

  1. Koni Yellows
  2. Eibach springs
  3. Turner Subframe Reinforcement
  4. Power Flex bushings (Sub+Diff)
  5. 3.46 Helical LSD + Heatsink (stock is 2.93)
  6. SS Catless Headers
  7. Epic Tune
  8. Possibly Borla Muffler for sounds Sleepy
And before Y'all say it, yes my brakes work now.  Tongue

Any help is appreciated.
