Motorsports doesn’t seem to be as much of a talking point as compared to other things, so I wanted to see how many people out there actually keep up with different racing series.
Formula 1
NASCAR
INDYCAR
IMSA
WEC
WRC
Formula E
(More can and will be added)
I didn’t see a motorsports topic, and I am really into it, so I figured why not? What are your favorite series to watch? Why? What do you not like to watch and why? Which series requires more talent, luck, balls, etc. in your opinion? What will be the shape of motorsports in 20 years? You know what to do

Roll call, a bit late since it's this weekend but here nonetheless!
Looks like we have a good crew headed to VIR this weekend for one of the final NASA weekends of the season. I think it'll be pretty simple with no grilling or whatnot, but open invite for trailer beers on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Driving - Jake (GTS2)
- Maeng (HPDE 4)
- Kaan (HDPE 3)
- Ryan (Time Trial, if he decides to sign up)
- Tom (Time Trial, honorary MMer)
Working- DJ
- Jake
- Dave A
- Brandon
- Stephen
- Ben B
- Kyle
- Max
- Andrew
- Plaugs
- Amanda
- Chris R
- Taylor
- Zach
My truck and trailer will be paddocked up by the classroom and front of grid (red F150 and big white enclosed trailer). We can park cars of people who are driving over that way, but if you are working, please park elsewhere. Along the fence by the tech shed/pagoda is a good spot, or we'll help you find somewhere else to go.
For those new to working NASA:
Welcome! It's some fun shit. I started doing this 10 years ago (damn) as a corner worker. NASA Mid-Atlantic and MM have a pretty tight relationship and we have, historically, helped them staff events. A lot of us who started out as part-time student help have become chiefs or consistent staff otherwise. Laura and Chris put on a pretty good event but they are relying on your help. Please be ready to work when it's your time - looks like there's a lot of one-day-only sort of help - and remember that even if the task seems kinda menial, you are doing it for a real reason.
When you're not working, you can get rides in cars! Take advantage of this. Look at the schedule (available at registration) - any HPDE 3 or HPDE 4 session will allow passengers in cars. Grab a helmet from Zach at registration (I also have one spare that can be shared) and head to grid about 10 minutes before the listed time on the schedule. All you have to do is ask the driver for a ride, some may say no but most are open to the idea. Make sure they have a passenger seat before asking
Lunch for all staff will be provided in the classroom building, upstairs. It's Subway, for better or worse. If you're not working or don't want Subway, the pagoda grill is open all day and has decent food available.
Friday Evening:
For those who get in at a decent hour (by 7ish?) we'll probably head up to the Tavern for dinner, which is on the VIR property. All are welcome, but try to let me or Brandon know ahead of time so we can get enough seats at the table. We'll head back to my trailer for beers afterward.
Saturday Evening:
Join us for the OG Racing and Convenience Car Care Center awards party! </announcer> There's a party for everyone working, racing, driving, spectating, etc around 6 PM at the pagoda, which is right in the paddock. You'll see where everyone is heading. If you are working, you will get in early, so keep an eye out for when we start migrating that way. There will be heavy appetizers and cold beer/tea/lemonade. Should be enough food to be considered dinner, but feel free to head back to the Tavern or into town if you are still hungry (Brandi). More trailer fun will ensue after that.
Welcome to the MMadness!

OK, I’m thinking about running in SSC (Solo Spec Coupe) next year, so I want to sell the S2000. It is a model year 2000 with ~139K miles which will go up a bit as I continue to travel to events and run the car this year. The body is straight and the paint is shiny. It does have some chips and scrapes as you would expect from a car of this age and mileage. The air conditioning blows cold. I’ve replaced rear wheel bearings, motor mounts, front castor adjusters. The top is in good shape with no leaks. The interior is in good condition. Everything works except the factory radio remote controls. It is fully prepped for STR. It’s not competitive nationally, but is very competitive locally. Here is the list of stuff.
SPC Honda S2000 Ball Joint - Front and Rear Fitment.
Camber: +/-1.5 degrees
Karcepts Spherical Upper Shock Mounts
PLM-HAP1-HEADER
Private Label MFG Power Driven F-Series Header (4-2-1-) AP1/AP2
HKS S2000 Hi Power Racing Version Exhaust 2000-09,75mm SUS304 "Off-road use only", single sided adjustable length tip
Berk 75 mm Hi flow cat
K&N CAI
Track Dog heat shield for headers
Greddy Emanage Ultimate
Karcepts Spec/Modified Boomslang Harness
Karcepts AP1 custom Tune
SFRE Adjustable Sway bar, 1.25”x .25” hollow, splined arms, rod end link (front)
SFRE Ball Bearing mounts for sway bar (front)
’06 Miata sway bar with custom brackets (rear)
Hyperco springs 8 x 2.5” 700Lbs (front)
Hyperco springs 8 x 2.5” 600Lbs (rear)
Hyperco springs 8 x 2.5” 800Lbs (originally had 800 f/700r, but that was too stiff for the bumpy ass lots around here)
Motion Control 2-way adjustable non-remote coil overs
Eibach helper springs
Modifry shift beeper
Modifry phone mount
Modifry gopro mount and glove box shelves
After market radio with new speakers and usb input
Braille 15 lb. battery
Enkei PF01 17X9 +60 silver with BFG Rival S1.5 255/40X17 (one set comes with the car)
Enkei PF01 17X9 +60 black with Bridgestone RE71-R 255/40X17 (one set comes with the car)
All the stock parts except the wheels
That is around $10K worth of parts if you’re wondering.
Anyway, I’d like to get $16K for the car, but I’ll listen to reasonable offers.
Co-drives / test drives are available if you’re serious
You can PM me here or email rschumin@gmail.com

Picked up something new today. I know a lot of you guys probably aren't super into this kind of stuff, but the more I drive it, the more I fall in love with it. I'll try to flesh this out with more detail later because it's 12:30am and the room feels like its spinning due to how sleep deprived I currently am, but I felt like posting something little. I'm really enjoying this one.![[Image: 78041637bc425f259ca10b155f49ae12.jpg]](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180930/78041637bc425f259ca10b155f49ae12.jpg)

Place Holder for information regarding offroading.
- Local Trails
Shoe Creek - Closed
George Washington National Forest (Union, Flag Pole, Switzer)
- What to bring
Shovel, air, hi lift jack, 2x4, snatch strap (NOT a tow strap), blanket/weight/heavy jack to place over the strap, charged cell phone
- What is capable?
FlagPole - Anything AWD or 4x4
Union - 4x4 recommended
Switzer - 4x4 recommended
- What parts of the trail are illegal? Which are legal?
General rule of thumb is, if you see a side trail/obstacle/mud hole and you don't know if it's legal or not. Assume it is, because it likely is.
- Who in the club has experience and can lead a group?
Recent folks include me and Colton Ringgold.
