  2011 Malibu Wakesetter VLX
Posted by: noahjp7 - 11-27-2018, 02:35 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (6)

I know this is a long shot, but I figured I might as well post it anyways in the off chance that somebody would be interested in it. I'm selling our 2011 Malibu Wakesetter 21 VLX. It's been an amazing boat to our family since we picked it up new 7 years ago. Check the craigslist ad for more details, and feel free to PM me on here or the groupme if you have any questions.

  WTB: E36 sedan safety equipment
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 11-26-2018, 11:39 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (38)

Hey everyone. Getting a little ahead of the curve here on this search, but I've sourced 1 seat (Thanks Tian!) and brackets. I'm looking for a good deal/suggestion for the following:

E36 92-95 Sedan Bolt in Roll Bar (for now). I don't have money for a weld in cage just yet and a I think a half cage is overkill for DE, but I'd like to do this at least intelligently. I would do a harness bar, but having seats and harnesses with no rollover protection doesn't make sense. There seem to be a few options out there. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation?

I need 1 fixed back seat, any safe condition and brackets to get it in the car.

2 sets of harnesses. I think this one doesn't matter to just spend money on newish ones, but who knows.

A wheel? Should I leave the air bag in if I have harnesses? Should I have harnesses without a Hans?

'08 Mazda 3. You know, for driving.
Posted by: "running!" - 11-24-2018, 08:02 PM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (7)

It was about time I got a reliable car. So I did.
It’s a 2008 Mazda 3 s 2.3l with 72k miles, one owner, and a fantastic maintenance record.

As I test drove some cars, several people asked if I’d be interested in trading in my 9000 for credit. I laughed and said I’d have to pay them to take it off my hands and they’d still probably lose money. The 9000’s transmission gremlin lashed out and I had to bleed my clutch in one lot in full view of Route 29-50.

I took it to my neighbors shop to double-check the worthiness of my new car and it checked out. The wheel is a little crooked but otherwise the car has been fantastic so far. The belts seem a little frayed so that will probably be the first thing I do to it.

I have no intention to do anything to this Mazda besides a tractor exhaust flap. The steering wheel has a few stains, as you can see, and there are some scratches I'd like to buff out. Otherwise, I’m keeping the 9000 and fully aim to continue to ‘restore’ the bastard. But it’ll be damn nice not to have to bleed my clutch to get to work constantly.

Hello all!

http://www.daytonainternationalspeedway....ytona.aspx

So, I may be interested in going with a few friends, but I don't really know much about how to spectate this event, nor have I ever really watched it.

1. Is it worth it?
2. What's the right way to experience it? How many days to go, what package to get? (I saw a Grassroots Mag ticket package that got me interested)
3. Fly or Drive?
4. Hotel Suggestions?

Is anyone else going?

Thanks!

Behold! The New TVR Griffith, Sounding Amazing

This thing sounds delicious.  Seems like TVR is actually going to succeed in making new cars again this time.  Car looks really good in motion, although I'm a bit disappointed that there wasn't a ton of sawing at the wheel whilst desperately attempting to maintain control.  Maybe that'll be for the twin turbo version.

These came with a car, anyone recognize the logo? My searches turned up nothing. eBay specials?

Hello everyone. I'm sure you've seen I bought another E30. Fear not, though, as this was a good decision (I think). Dave and I are always watching Craigslist for good deals and he sent me this one before I saw it myself. I shot the guy a text and headed there at the first chance he was free. Which just so happened to be the morning after Paul's wedding. So with a hungover Tyler, and Jake still wearing his suit from the night before, we showed up, drove it, realized it was worth way more than he was asking, and I snagged it.

I've driven it all this week without issue and have gone over the car fairly well (I thought about doing DE with it at Summit this weekend, but came to my senses). I fixed a few things and added some stuff, as well as cleaned it.

Now it's for sale. Dave can attest to how much I want to keep this, but for some reason, he's giving me the "Do as I say, and not as I do treatment" and making a good argument for why I should move on. Mainly, because I have another car lined up for some time this winter.

WBAAE5402H1692665
1987 325 (eta) 2.7 liter
-191,004 miles. Odometer has stopped
- 5 speed manual
-Painted 3 years ago (8/10 currently. Some scuffs and dents, but it
still looks amazing)
-Exterior is in great condition. Bumpers show no wear or scuffs, all
exterior trim is all there except for a missing side marker on the rear
bumper.
-Early Model IS front air dam
-Blue interior in fair condition. I swapped a tan comfort seat in good
condition for the broken driver seat, but I'll include the original seat.
-Bilstein shocks
-Working AC/Heat converted to R134. Blower motor is silent
-Aftermarket head unit (front speakers aren't wired up)
-All accessories work except the front left turn signal is out and the
passenger window doesn't go down.
-New Guibo
-Starts instantly and idles very well. Pulls strong (for an Eta), no
hiccups.
-Power Steering pump was replaced at some point and doesn't work
very well at idle, but feels fine once you're moving
-New tires within last year
-Has unbroken toolkit
-New Radiator (PO wired in a switch to force the electric fan to high)
-Needs a reverse switch wire
-Could use a shift rebuild and a new boot (have that ordered)
-Multifunction clock (commonly mistaken for an OBC) works
flawlessly with no dead pixels
-Gauges work, lights work
-Missing latch on glove box

Idk, some other stuff. Price $2500 or something. idc. yes, I know the pictures were taken at night. I'll have time some time next week to take pictures during the day, maybe.

November 10-11, 2018 – Fall Finish Line - Summit Point Raceway
Posted by: Senor_Taylor - 11-07-2018, 11:59 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (2)

Roll call! Who's going?

What: Last NASA MA event of the year.

When: November 10-11, 2018

Where: Summit Point Raceway

Tyler, Zach, and I are in Registration all weekend, and somehow I managed to signed up for DE1 (Thanks Laura, ur the bomb). So hopefully I can get out for a few sessions when Zach doesn't need me. I've Sean and Cobetto himself as my potential instructors, so it could be an interesting weekend. I've never driven Summit.

The MMotorhome boys will be there Friday evening before 6.

I don't have catastrophic engine failure!! Yet

So after 4 years of dreaming I have finally got one. A BMW E60 M5 with a 6-speed, no SMG's for me! I remember the Top Gear review that I watched during my pre-teen years, with Jeremy clarkson bashing on the thing for how horrible it was in town and the stupid satnav woman and indicator stocks. And how his opinion changed when he hit the M button and drove the damn thing. The car embodies what it means to be an enthusiast. Engineering not for practicality or profit, but for passion and fun. Who in their right mind would say "hey, let's take our V10 F1 motor and make it fit in our 5 series." This thing is just silly, I'm driving around in a bmw luxury sedan with a 5 liter, 40 valve, dual vanos, odd firing V10 with a 6 speed manual!

I found this car by a stroke of luck when I just happened to check craigslist Chicago. I talked to the guy and decided to buy the car. I flew out from GSP to DTW to pick up the car Saturday the 3rd of November. I then drove to Virginia to see my parents, and then JMU and finally Clemson where it is now. I have already put 1,200 miles on the car and boy is it bad on gas. Big Grin
The car has had rod bearings and throttle actuators done, and Troy Jeup offered $8,500 for the motor alone so the motor is healthy.

  WTB: Mom Car
Posted by: davej - 11-06-2018, 09:24 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (13)

Got a call from my mom over the weekend informing me she got t-boned in an intersection.

[pause for jokes]

She wasn't seriously injured, but got banged up pretty good.

[pause for jokes again]

She had a 2012 Corolla but is hoping to keep the next car in the 5-7k range.
I'll hit the local lots and CL, but if anybody knows of a friend/family with a decent Honda/Toyota for sale, please let me know.
Everything in upstate NY is fairly well rusted out by the time it gets to a 5 grand car, so hoping I can find her something clean and worry-free for a while, you know, like a Taylor Special $500 e30 or Miata

Still awaiting word if I'll have a new brother or sister.
