FS: 1987 BMW 325 - Senor_Taylor - 11-08-2018 Hello everyone. I'm sure you've seen I bought another E30. Fear not, though, as this was a good decision (I think). Dave and I are always watching Craigslist for good deals and he sent me this one before I saw it myself. I shot the guy a text and headed there at the first chance he was free. Which just so happened to be the morning after Paul's wedding. So with a hungover Tyler, and Jake still wearing his suit from the night before, we showed up, drove it, realized it was worth way more than he was asking, and I snagged it. I've driven it all this week without issue and have gone over the car fairly well (I thought about doing DE with it at Summit this weekend, but came to my senses). I fixed a few things and added some stuff, as well as cleaned it. Now it's for sale. Dave can attest to how much I want to keep this, but for some reason, he's giving me the "Do as I say, and not as I do treatment" and making a good argument for why I should move on. Mainly, because I have another car lined up for some time this winter. WBAAE5402H1692665 1987 325 (eta) 2.7 liter -191,004 miles. Odometer has stopped - 5 speed manual -Painted 3 years ago (8/10 currently. Some scuffs and dents, but it still looks amazing) -Exterior is in great condition. Bumpers show no wear or scuffs, all exterior trim is all there except for a missing side marker on the rear bumper. -Early Model IS front air dam -Blue interior in fair condition. I swapped a tan comfort seat in good condition for the broken driver seat, but I'll include the original seat. -Bilstein shocks -Working AC/Heat converted to R134. Blower motor is silent -Aftermarket head unit (front speakers aren't wired up) -All accessories work except the front left turn signal is out and the passenger window doesn't go down. -New Guibo -Starts instantly and idles very well. Pulls strong (for an Eta), no hiccups. -Power Steering pump was replaced at some point and doesn't work very well at idle, but feels fine once you're moving -New tires within last year -Has unbroken toolkit -New Radiator (PO wired in a switch to force the electric fan to high) -Needs a reverse switch wire -Could use a shift rebuild and a new boot (have that ordered) -Multifunction clock (commonly mistaken for an OBC) works flawlessly with no dead pixels -Gauges work, lights work -Missing latch on glove box Idk, some other stuff. Price $2500 or something. idc. yes, I know the pictures were taken at night. I'll have time some time next week to take pictures during the day, maybe. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() FS: 1987 BMW 325 - davej - 11-08-2018 I'm happy you're sticking to the plan, but also secretly a little disappointed. I'm assuming the guy let the car go because the blower motor and gauges kept blowing out, the car made an awful noise, and shuddered like a washing machine with a brick in it. The guibo was so far gone that it was slapping the inside of the trans tunnel, collected the reverse switch wiring, and was shorting it out on the driveshaft, blowing the fuse to all of those things. Replaced that and the car felt completely different. ![]() Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk RE: FS: 1987 BMW 325 - ScottyB - 11-08-2018 i didn't know guibos could transform into balls of yarn. neat. FS: 1987 BMW 325 - ViPER1313 - 11-08-2018 In for where Taylor forgot to mark the driveshaft during replacement, drives the car to work and the misaligned shaft tears the rear out causing thousands in repairs and much cursing. RE: FS: 1987 BMW 325 - Senor_Taylor - 11-08-2018 I never take the driveshaft apart. I've don't this 4 times now without issue. I never even loosen the collar to compress it. You should have waited a couple of days and then posted a WTB: E30 Transmission, Drive Shaft, Diff RE: FS: 1987 BMW 325 - alco - 11-08-2018 I hope you replaced those swollen tranny mounts... You need to draw the line on what you're replacing on a car you're not keeping. Sure, it could use new trans and engine mounts, could also use a new suspension, might as well replace the dash while we're at it. Oh look, I'm $5000 into a $2500 E30 again. RE: FS: 1987 BMW 325 - Goodspeed - 11-08-2018 That sig is outta control, but hilarious. Might I suggest horizontal with | separators? Maybe compared to the other trash I've owner, but on it's on, it wasn't great. I really like these cars and I enjoy the satisfaction of small, easy fixes improving a car a lot. I want to own/drive tons of cars and owning a metal bumper eta checks a few more things off the list. As far as time, I haven't slept much or had time to do laundry or anything, but it's been fun. Someone is coming today to look before I head to summit. If I can own a new kind of car for a while, have fun, and not lose money, that's a good time.
