  2001 Miata
Posted by: Scott - 01-19-2019, 04:21 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (3)

2001 Miata LS.  170k, 5 speed, torsen LSD, leather, cruise, ac, etc.  Factory hardtop.  Rust free!  Everything works as it should (Miata after all).  I bought it from the long time owners son after her passing.  I was told the timing belt, water pump and clutch where all replaced in the spring of 2018 with minimal mileage since.  The front and rear bumpers look like they were used for "feel to park", the drivers seat has wear.  The hardtop paint was in good shape until we got a snow storm a couple weeks ago and somehow got under the clear coast and started flaking off in large chunks.  It has a sporadic CEL for an oxygen sensor.  If I remember correctly when I checked, it's the 2nd sensor, and if the light comes on again I'll hook the code reader back up to confirm which one.  It runs and drives fine so I never worried about it.  The soft top is supposedly in decent shape, I have never taken the hardtop off the car, and it is way to cold to begin to try to put it up,  so assume the soft top may need some patching.  It looks fine, but original, in the down position.

It was going to be a Spec Miata build, but I'm slimming down while preparing for a move and possible career change (E36 M3 will be next to go).  Clear title in my name

$3500
Located in Waynesboro, VA

  Ben Bradberry Intro
Posted by: ReallySlowGP - 01-16-2019, 11:58 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (7)

Figured it was about time to make a post on here.
I'm Ben, a Senior Computer Science major. I went to a few MM meetings my sophomore year so if you recognize my car that's why. I have 2 Pontiac Grand Prixs, a '98 GT Sedan and a '96 SE coupe.
I've had the '98 since 2014. I got it at 83,000 miles and since then I've put on 40,000 more. It's been a great daily driver for me and was what got me interested in GM's W platform in the first place.
The '96 I got in October from my girlfriend's family after it failed inspection due to the rack and pinion needing to be replaced. Her dad fixed it up before they handed me the keys, and he did a damn good job with it. It's my project car and what I intend to spend a lot more money than I should on over the next few years. I plan to give the engine a new cam and ported heads, and am currently working on upgrading the suspension for autocross. Sadly it is a little ugly right now but I'm sourcing trim pieces and am going to give it a new coat of paint some time in the future. Grand Prixs aren't a common car to see being modified but I'm very fond of them and am looking forward to setting it up exactly how I want it.

This year is a little different because the VA Auto Show is going on this day as well. The plan is after karting we can all go over and check out what's going on.

Where: Greater Richmond Convention Center
When: 10am - 9pm
Price: $10 for Adult tickets
More Info: http://virginiaautoshow.com/show-info/

With the show, it might be difficult to coordinate, but it would be nice to get all the Alum and Students together for lunch. The best will probably be to get lunch after karting since we will all want a bite to eat. Then whoever wants to can head over to the show.

Please reply to this post so we can keep a running list of who is coming. This will help with teams when the time gets closer.

You already know what time it is, so I’ll get right to it:

When: April 6th, 9am - 12pm car entry
Judging at 2pm
Wrap up at 3pm
Cruise at 4:30pm (Meet back in C4 for cruise)

Where: JMU’s C4 lot (Same as before)
Cruise will be up 33West, stop at campgrounds

Details: $5 for car entry, free for spectators
Open to anyone, including pets
Food will be cooked starting at 11:30am

Autocross will be held at Verona Government Center, on April the 7th.

This will be hosted by SCCA-BRR, and organized by Ray Schumin.

*Once the event is on Motorsportreg.com I will add in full details.

After Party will be in The Retreat
Starting at 9pm, anyone is welcome. If your name is Channing, BYORBV.
Address will be posted when the time gets closer.
The Retreat does not have the best guest parking, so please plan rides accordingly.

PLEASE be aware of JMU’s policies including drone usage, noise violations, and using public facilities.

DO NOT walk directly across the train tracks, please use the designated paths to go across.

Bathrooms will be across the tracks in “dHub” as well as Mr Chips, Madison Union, and portable facilities.

Follow all traffic laws entering and exiting the show. This is a privilege we have, and we don’t want to lose that due to one person’s negligence.

Once the poster design is finalized, it will be posted here for you to share on social media, work, and other organizations that might be interested in joining in.

If you want a place to crash, my place and I’m sure many others will be open. Just give us a heads up!

If I forgot something, I’m sure Tay will let me know.
