RallyX this weekend
Posted by: Evan - 03-15-2004, 01:19 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (38)

There is a RallyX this weekend in Orange, VA (not too far from JMU)
Im thinking of going to either run or watch. Anyone interested in driving or watching?

ps- this is the one kind of racing where your cheapass allseason tires actually do well at!

 DSM Meet@GMU Pictures
Posted by: KPWSerpiente - 03-14-2004, 08:01 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (16)

While some of you were out AutoXing, my crew and I were holding our second Annual DSM Meet@GMU.
Turnout was not as high as I expected, I think we had a max count of 80 cars there at one time but more than a hundred showed up in total rolling in and out throughout the event.
Here are some pictures to give you an idea of how cool it was:
(these were taken by various people and I'm posting up here for your viewing)

Good shot to show you how it was going down. You can see yours truly strutting his stuff in shorts despite the windchill.

Ivan's car sporting it's new suspension and rims as well as one of the most unique valve covers I've ever seen. Too bad this picture doesn't show it.

Clean looking drop top.

Capitol Area DSM's King of Bling at the GT6, Sammy's Galant VR4 #1706.

Supercharged + Nitrous S2000.

Several Supras showed up, including this bad boy.

Half a dozen of the DC Evo club showed up and rolled out early to hit up an Evo meet.. A few more like this one remained.

What a DSM should look like.

SRT-4's rolled in and out. This one stayed long enough to pop his hood.

This man changes turbo set ups like some people change oil. Very nice vehicle.

Phoenix's 99 GS-T. This is my idol and you can be sure whatever parts he is used/using I am using/ordering. Except for the header and frontmount which are too bling for me.

1st gen used for Autox. Water injection and nice seats give me shivers.

Justin's Laser. No one does orange quite like him.

A few 3KGT/Stealth TT's rolled in. Valvecover + sparkplug cover work by Dave at gofastgoodies.com. I'm going to him for the bling when I can afford it.

Dave's 50 trim powered 1g. Very nice vehicle.

Jon's stroked, built and turbocharged 420a. Very sweet ride (for a GS).

Had to do it: Another picture of Sam's G-VR4.

Overview of the lot. Not as full as it was at some points.

Campus police paying us no mind. We're good people.

Can you spot the turbo?!

Some of the MD crew as they caravaned down.

I think the paintjob speaks for the car.

This 2nd gen had it all. 6 bolt engine swap, 60-1 turbo, nice intake manifold and cams, etc. Just needed a 97-99 exterior conversion to look sexy like mine.

FINALLY! One with my car in it. That's 1/3 of the crew right there.

 1989 RX-7 TurboII
Posted by: JackoliciousLegs - 03-14-2004, 10:41 AM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (8)

No people, it's not mine. It's my friend matt's. We worked on our cars together and this thing is great. He's invested so much money in this car and 4500 is a steal. If anyone wants the best way to get into rx7s, this is it.

Quote:1989 S5 Black Leather Interior
new rebuilt mazda 13BT installed...less than 3k on motor
used jspec tranny with 40k miles installed..works perfect
new apexi n1 exhaust
new brake pads, resurfaced rotors
new khumo tires in front and rear (ecsta supra Vrated)
new engine flush, oil change, coolant flush, tranny oil, differential oil
new spark plugs
new bushing kit (not all installed yet)
bypassed the ABS
centerforce dual friction clutch with plenty of life
ready to be painted (car is currently primered)
very nice condition
have all receipts plus extra tranny and tons of parts, gasket sets (new), s5 fcd, etc

car runs very well, turbo boosts great (7psi), never boosted over stock and engine was broken in 2k before any boost applied. i'm selling because im graduating college and don't have the money to pour into it anymore. it just needs a paint job to be perfect. body is straight. NO RUST.
$4500 I MUST SELL THIS CAR SOON
email me at chasemd@jmu.edu thanks!
before it was ready for paint:

They've got a little bit of tread left so I figured someone might get some use out of them. They've certainly got enough meat left for the summer.

 3/13-14 AutoX writeup(s)

Just wanted to tell my story Big Grin :

Got there ten minutes early at about 9:20 and was greeted immediately by the other drivers. I met a really cool guy that had built a couple rx7s from scratch and he was really cool. He let me ride along in his e36 m3 which was SUPER fast. I ran B-Stock, where I was absolutely DESTROYED by cars like his m3 and others. I took 9 seconds off my first time by my last run though so I was very VERY happy.

Between sessions, I talked to the fastest driver of the day (an STi) and he gave me some pointers. After which I beat my time from the first session!I sat most of the second session out because I got like 6 runs in the first one. I didn't feel like beating my car up more. Either way, i feel like I learned SOOO much and I had an absolute blast. It was excellent learning experience and even tho I thought I had mAd sk1llz y0 before I got out there, I was still able to shave 9 seconds off by the end of the day.

Highlights:

Me lined up... ready to rumble.

[Image: ?displaypic=Madison%20Motorsports%2Fauto...PG&non_lr=]
Feerst polishing his bling.

My slips. Notice the very positive progression!!!

That link is a full lap (minus like 2 seconds of missed film). You can get idea of what it's like.

Other people should share their experiences too.
