I didn't think it could get worse, but someone always does it. Congrats on making it uglier. I hate this obsession of lifting every car and make it suck at both things it's trying to do. This is the automotive equivalent of Photoshopping your anime girlfriend into photos of yourself.

I don't disagree at all, but I do kind of like the idea of something Vehicross/Alltrac-ish, where it's not some blocky truckthing jacked up on 36's, but a 4WD car with some clearance and locking diffs, so that least some overland/two track shit wasn't out of the question.
I at least understand the appeal of something like this if it were real, but these weird renders dont' make any fuckin' sense to me.

That's no too far off from the old Local Motors Rally Fighters, except they had like twice the displacement.

"Sports Activity Vehicle" good lord BMW. Everything in their lineup is boring (except for the M2). Lets spice up the name, that'll get em in the showroom.

I think the renders are pretty cool and makes me think of some unique vehicle purpose built for a sci-fi movie. What's the point of anything if you can't dream it.

They've used that term since the first X5 - I think because they don't really make any promise of off-road utility. Still goofy but it's a less transparent admission of a crossover. Better that than call it a SUV, hah.
But yeah, most new BMWs make me sad.

i love the idea of that as well, truly, which is why if someone was designing it realistically instead of for shock value, we'd just end up with a supra on 205/65-15 rally tires with a lift, some armor, and bigass rally flaps. basically the safari equivalent of the 911. no need for the mad max nonsense.
still ugly btw.

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. I think the B5 rear glass line was more upright but yeah I wouldn't be surprised if the overall exterior dimensions were similar.

What!? RF or soft top? I wanna touch it. I'm guessing this'll be a primo choice for some sort of stock-class autocross adventures.
That is a damn nice looking miata - soft top only though. Get that dumb RF off the production line already.

I actually prefer the RF for a daily, all weather street car. Much better than what they did with the NC

Why? The RF is the perfect compromise. It has a removable roof with none of the downsides of a full soft top.
Not that I'm looking getting a miata or anything, but the RF would be the only one I would consider.

I'm not a fan of the looks of the RF. The reviews I read also stated that the interior is even more cramped than a soft top miata (how that could be possible I don't know) and that the visibility is poor. I don't see the need for a hard top on a miata.

Hold up.
Wait.
You mean to tell us you ordered BOTH a RF & soft top!?
Pending response I'm shaking at increasing frequency in my chair.
And the RF is sweet. Every color doesn't serve it well, 49-51% of the time I prefer the soft top look for the ND, but in black its amazing in person.
