Lol no... In black primer

I'm picking out a red monstaliner color that might sorta match the door jams and engine bay that won't get lined. No need to paint match when I'll be tackling that project in the next couple of months

I'm an equal opportunity hater... I personally would never fly the stars and bars but I do love to watch Dukes of Hazard (sylvia HATES it... something about it being degrading to women)... I need to finish a project in the garage so I can hang the flags I fly... i'll update the garage thread when it happens.

In other news... I was reading the inline 6 forum and someone was saying the 4.9L doesnt have an indicated redline. Someone responded that they didnt have a redline because the head wont flow enough air to rev high enough to break anything (or before it would hit 6k which is the last number indicated on the tach). I'm not sure if thats true but my truck doesnt have a redline lol.

So... can you make it rev anywhere near redline if you're like... givin' it the bizniss down a hill? I could make my E30 do it down a hill with a lot of willpower.

i'm not exactly sure... havent tried and I'm not really motivated to go out and see. its not fast, its not slow, it doesnt care what gear its in, just press the happy pedal and it goes whatever speed you want. the gears are so long once you are out of 2nd that you'd be "speeding" in an old rattle trap pick up i havent gone over 100% yet... if you are in 1st or 2nd there is SO MUCH TQ that you are risking breaking shit in the drive line. i did have to test out the locking hubs and 4wd  they worked fine but make a mess in 1st gear.

I drive it like this...I take off... short shift 1st and then 2nd, step on it in 3rd, drop it in 5th (marked OD in every other F150 except the 1995 and 1996)... cruise at whatever speed you want. if its a big hill you use 4th. If the bench seat wasnt so damn long i'd look over to see whats going on when sylvia drives (she revs out EVERYTHING we own... she says i do but i dont cruise through town at 6k in the integra... she does).

I LOVE driving this thing... its not too cushy, not too rough... the only thing it does when it hits a potholes is make it bigger for someone in a car to worry about.... at 79mph Wink on the highway it lets you know you are going that fast, but in a well mannered way (you just turn the radio up louder than the tires... its not just a jeep thing).

A little truck update… Saturday she got some new speakers and a radio… Sunday we put her to work hauling firewood.

The old crusty ford deck that didn’t want to come out… breaking off the face makes it easier to remove!

200k miles of dirt under the door… and crappy old ford speakers.

The new Kicker CS series speakers
[Image: Freshnewoontz_zpsaa458be9.jpg]

The new Bluetooth cheap radio that is pretty amazing… especially for the old beater.

We call it… Redneck Flare… 5 tqs per!

Ford Decks are a huge pain in the ass to get out even with the extractor tools especially if you have never done it before

I've been holding onto that ZRT sticker for when i finally got a truck... it took long enough (as all of my ideas seem to). I think i'm going to try to build a lockable truck box for behind the seat that could possibly hold a rifle. I cant seem to find one on the internets.

Also i'd like to bitch that NONE of the bench seat covers at autozone fit the bench seat in an F150. i'm pretty sure this generation was one of the last to have a true non split bench and it was "the best selling" for the 90s... yet none of them fit. the autozone guys are tired of me bringing seat covers back i'm sure.

SO... Crutchfield forgot to send the real tools with the rest of the stuff... i got my all the right plugs and harnesses... but not the tools. so i pulled some dry cleaning off the hanger and started making the tool. well they didnt work that great. i got one side to pop and not the other... its not like it had resale value... and i'm pretty good at destroying shit... so i got the radio out MY WAY!

If you look at the back window there is the ford oval just under the Devils Backbone sticker... thats a sticker stating the truck was built in the old Norfolk VA plant. It was built, purchased 3 times, and only registered in VA. We couldnt bring ourselves to peal that sticker off.

My truck has or had the built in
Norfolk sticker too I believe. It was on my windshield though.

We were the first owners so that means it's only ever been a VA truck as well. Never really thought of it that way

So before the derp can go on jackstands… I want to seal up the F150 (and I need to start working client side again)… so I decide to attack the F150 on Saturday. Well the biggest thing to tackle before monstaliner is the pickup bed… which means fender work.

IF YOU HAVE RUST ON ANY CAR, DON’T WAIT, ATTACK NOW!!
This is how it looks… seems pretty reasonable.

I HATE stupid trim pieces… I had to use the grinder to remove the screws that held them in place… that should have been a sign.

We start getting down to the metal to find out whats going on…
[Image: OMGitsahonda_zpsd5b6d356.jpg]

OMG it’s a damn Honda! Look at the hole!
[Image: Morethanithoughtlessthanthenormalf150_zps892f3eee.jpg]

The rain looked like it was moving it so I decided not to weld… I sprayed some metal sealer in the hole and then used some self etching primer to cover whatever I could. Doesn’t look too bad after the rain.

The next step is to drill some holes along the fender and blow out any dust rust in there, spray more sealant inside the finder, weld the patches, and finish prepping for the monstaliner. I’d say the other side doesn’t look “as bad” but then I would doom myself to find more work Wink
