In case you have any friends or family interested thought I would copy / paste my Autotrader / forums ad here as well. Tell your friends! Daddy needs a new pickup
Hello all! The time has come to move on to a more practical second vehicle (pickup truck). I thought I would list it here in case anyone in the enthusiast community is interested.
This is a beautiful example of an XFR, I searched for over a year for this exact vehicle! Full maintenance history includes a log book I have kept of every expense and service trip. Transferable Jaguar Vehicle Protection Plan Warranty good until September 2019 or 100K miles! This car has been garaged, rarely driven and taken care of as well as one of our children (if we had any). Car currently has 25,660 miles that isn't going up much since I now work from home.
Tasteful aftermarket mods include: Mina Gallery carbon fiber parts (hood louvers, side vents, front splitters, mirrors), Mina Gallery catback exhaust, custom fitted Magnaflow X pipe and resonator deletes (work performed at Toxic Performance in Indian Trail, NC), powder coated stock 20" Nevis wheels, updated red logo "growler" grille badge and wheel caps. None of these changes have affected the warranty in any way, and the car has been serviced regularly at Scott Jaguar in Charlotte, NC.
The only ding on its record: despite my best efforts to keep this car mint, it was involved in a low speed (5 mph) rear end fender bender in July of 2014. To an interested buyer, I will provide time and date stamped digital photos of the accident as well as a copy of the body shop invoice to help illustrate the cosmetic nature of the damage. Everything has been restored to 100%, and the car had a fresh professional detail last year including an Opti-Coat 2.0 application (and has not been hand-washed since, only no touch).
This car is a fantastic example of one of the best cars to come out of Jaguar recently. It handles and accelerates at a world class level, and sounds absolutely amazing with the current exhaust setup. Here is a Youtube video:

The buyer will receive all stock exhaust components should there be a desire to revert it to stock.

I'd like to sell our '02 325i, would be a great student car or cheap commuter. I'm only posting here for now at the MM price of $3500. I can bring it to Turducken if someone wants to look at it.
It WAS garage kept, recently kicked out by our TDI and Miata, and my DD is a van. We just don't need it and I'd hate to leave it out in the snow.
160K miles
5spd
Blue on tan
16" E90 wheels with ~1yr old tires on them, I can include the stock wheels as well
Heated, memory adjust seats
Everything works, no idiot lights, runs/drives great, no rust
Replaced in last 3 years:
throttle pedal, throttle body, ICV, cam position sensor, climate control final stage resistor, front CAB to powerflex, valve cover gasket, all synthetic fluids
Full disclosure:
Rear suspension bushings probably original, no noises but rear camber at the limit of factory spec
Burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles, a little smoke visible at startup but not once warm
Hit in rear long ago, rear bumper a little compressed
Leather needs a good cleaning from kid seats but in good shape
Plenty of rock chips in paint front/rear
C-pillar cloth falling off, though all else and headliner fine
Driver door lock doesn't work with key, but remote lock/unlock works fine for all doors and trunk
My attempt to clear up the headlights, especially the left, was mostly a failure, left plastic needs more TLC or replacement

A while ago I had checked out uber and lyft, but they weren't in the area. Uber is now in Harrisonburg/Cville, and I signed up for grins. I'm curious if anyone has driven for a ride share, what could I expect on the passenger front? A lot of sketchy requests to stop by the liquor store on the way to Dollar General?
Do drivers get 1099's or something at the end of the year? It looks like it'll take a week or so for the background checks to come in before I can log into the app.
Oh, and they've got some referral program which I'd be happy to split with anyone, my code is "czrckz6jue" or url https://get.uber.com/drive/?invite_code=czrckz6jue

Well I messed up the last BMW, so what can I do with this one? Come with me on this massive journey as I try to create, yet again, a nice BMW.
As some of you already know I got a crashed M3 from a fellow NASA-MA-er about a month ago. This is the car:

![[Image: yiRvCgp.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/yiRvCgp.jpg)
The frame just may be bent and I don't want to deal with that kind of body work. So after a week or so of contemplation and just letting it all sink in... a plan was devised. Dave and I have joined forces!
He has a broken e30 318is
![[Image: IMG_20141008_153748.jpg]](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WlIDbB_8wr4/VDWfUA6VSaI/AAAAAAAADuc/Z8CFWAj3hOc/s800/IMG_20141008_153748.jpg)
which could arguably be my fault but arguably not
I have a broken OBD1 M3, so why not combine them both and overtime turn it into something like this?
![[Image: yTlcfnH.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/yTlcfnH.jpg)
LETS GOOOO!!
Step 1: Completely strip the M3 and scrap whatever is left
Step 2: Remove E30 M42
Step 2&3: Find array of parts from various BMW's necessary for swap and source someone to do some exhaust fab and minor welding
Step 4: Get parts + E30 to RVA
Step 5: Install S50 into E30.
Each step of the way will get more details as I get to them. I just know the Step 4 needs to happen by mid December and Step 5 needs to be complete by the end of December.

Last Wednesday the project was officially on a roll when Matthew Craig and I made a late night trip to grab the engine hoist from DJ (thank you). I was very worried it wasn't going to fit and be waste of time but the Protege5 came through ftw.

![[Image: RNG2JfV.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/RNG2JfV.jpg)
So Saturday I had James and Simon helping which helped alot. It was the most work I've ever gotten done in 4.5 hours. 6 hands makes such a difference. Thanks guys! We had the driveshaft, exhaust, main wiring harness, intake, radiator and front clip all removed.

We had some fun trying to remove the radiator support on the drivers side. So first we started freaking out cause we didn't have any torx bits and ofcourse, those are the screws used here. When I checked the toolbox we had one and only one bit anD IT WAS RIGHT SIZE...for the passenger side only. The driver side used a different sized torx bit..and after further inspection had some washers underneath it..hmmm, I think this front fender has been before! Anyway, it's not like I was gonna save this fender so BREAK OUT THE BREAKER BAR!

I believe for Saturday that was as far as we had gotten... TIME FOR HALLOWEEN FUN!
![[Image: fLRPZMh.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/fLRPZMh.jpg)
So we return Sunday, in a bit of pain, a little tired, but ready!
Looking back now we spent a crap ton of time on Sunday just dealing with wiring and hoses. We drained the block of coolant, removed the shifter linkages, cleared the AC, unbolted the engine mounts (and learned that one was actually broken! Looked like it was sheared in the accident) intake manifold and then spent an ungodly amount of time pulling wires, grounds and hoses.
Finally we were ready to pull the engine and all is going relatively well but this is where my roadblock is. The oil pan is being blocked by the steering rack. We have tried every which way to try and get some angle to swing the engine past it. From using the load balancer, to not using it, to adjusting the load balancer, to bringing in the jack and jacking various points to try and pivot the engine. It was getting late and thanks to daylight savings (which hasn't saved shit) we were also out of light. Neither of us really wanted to even try and think about how we were going to back in through the mess of wires to find the bolts for the steering rack. I fear pulling it may be the only way to get it out. Ugh, well everything is coming out at some point anyway right?
So we packed up and rested the engine back down and so she sits until Wednesday. I could try for tomorrow, but I think I will use that time to crank out homework instead. I don't want to unnecessarily overwhelm myself. I'd rather this project to continue to be fun as it has proven to be so thus far. I do, however, need to keep up with my deadlines so this actually gets done. If anyone has any tips for ANYTHING you can predict along the entire journey feel free to post up. I know BJ said he's done one of these before and Sexy Rexy got close to doing one. The more brains the better! Also accepting physical help, multiple hands really helps to save lots of time.

In 2014, I made the choice to jump out of GTS for many reasons, but mainly was to see if I could keep up with the "spec guys". I wanted to see if I could still be good competition in a Spec Class with tougher drivers and builds. I did so, and after 3 Did Not Finish because of engine issues and a bad battery, I was able to accrue 4x 1st place finishes and 3x 2nd place finishes. The car never was right until the last couple races, but I honestly wasn't having fun. The Spec Group of Drivers have egos the size of Earth and I wasn't having as much fun.
I was reached out in the summer of 2015 by a guy with a GTS3 car and after deliberating after one more race weekend of the Spec car; decided to jump back to GTS.
The history of the car starts with TCKline in World Challenge. It is a body-in-white E46 325i built out using the original aluminum motor. They campaigned it 6 or 7 years (and has the original SCCA Pro Racing stickers still on the cage). Cage by McMahon, AP Pedal Setup, Triple Adjustable Motons, AP Air Jacks (bling!), blade-style sway bars front and rear, built 3.91, carbon fiber hood/trunk, lexan windows, electric power steering and plenty of Carbon Fiber bits in places. When the E46 got a face-lift, so did this E46 and was converted to the face-lift.
Details are hard-to-find but I do have original documentation and some cool spec sheets from the car in the trailer. Ill upload them when I get a chance.

After World Challenge, it was converted to GTS. A 40k mile old S54 was thrown in along with a remote oil filter housing setup, Epic Headers, standalone MK60 ABS, E46 M3 fenders/bumper, and flared rears. It does have an AIM MXL, and plenty of switches to make a man happy.

As you can see, the wiring is a mess, and the interior is very dirty. A refresh is planned this winter.
Before that, however, I decided to "try" out the car at October VIR. One 15 minute session for warmup and then qualifying/race. I kept my expectations low with a new car, and some old R7s.
Practice went alright, but yikes, this car would be a handful. The tires were a little worse off than I thought, and the balance of the car was all off. I made some major changes to the shocks and adjusted more wing in.
![[Image: 11752453_10102631992647509_8677393261175...e=56CABA98]](https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11752453_10102631992647509_8677393261175312522_n.jpg?oh=6e091bc7b7bfe7e77a8a978a4dbf2289&oe=56CABA98)
Qualifying came an hour later. Went out, having issues with the brakes just not slowing, and balance at mid-corner was just awful. 15 minutes flew by again. At VIR, this means 3-4 laps, not much time for set up. Ended up 3rd out of 13 drivers, which was a shock. Cannot complain! Again, I tempered my expectations with the car I had. With a total of 6-7 laps under my belt, I was still taking it easy trying to get a feel. Once again I made more shock adjustments and swapped out the front pads tto a more aggressive pad given the braking issues I had.
![[Image: 12095243_10207804261933850_6088703665651661832_o.jpg]](https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t31.0-8/12095243_10207804261933850_6088703665651661832_o.jpg)
How'd the race go? Well not off to a good start. The pedals are offset ocmpared to the stock setup, and on the start of the race, I slammed down the brake pedal instead of the clutch pedal and dropped from 3rd to 6th entering the brake zone of Turn 1. Under braking I squeezed through and popped back into 5th place. Exiting Turn 1 I pushed Jim Khoury in 4th place to help get clear of the guy battling with me for 6th place. Entering turn 3 I stayed tight until braking then popped wide and passed Khoury on the outside and completed entering turn 4.
I was now in 4th right behind Steve Fiore. Tried to pass exiting the lower-esses as I had more exit speed but did not have enough speed (down on power, more later) to finish before the lower-esses. In a car I was more comfortable with I might have pushed it, but I let Fiore go and followed him through till Oak Tree where I got alongside and had better exit enough to get past him. Unfortunately down on power, he powered by on the straight and I had to make a very deep braking maneuver to get by him in the braking zone to top of rollercoaster.
Now in 3rd, I had to catch Vernon McClure and Eric Wong. They had made up some distance while I battled to get back by 5th, 4th and 3rd place. It took about 1.5 laps before I was able to catch them in some traffic up the uphill esses and using the exit speed got alongside Wonger from oak tree braking to exit. Again, down on power, Vernon and Eric got away but was able to make back up the differential in rollercoaster, and although they again got some speed down the front straight; they hit traffic into turn 1. I jumped in a hole and caught Vernon by surprise on the inside and completed the pass to be behind Eric Wong.
Now in 2nd place behind Eric Wong, I had to make something stick in the corners as I was down on power on the straights. On the next lap I was able to pass him using the outside of the uphill esses (oh my!). Unfortunately once we got to the back straight he passed back by. I just kept hounding him poking my bumper in holes seeing where I could get by. On the next lap into Oak Tree, Eric and I came up on traffic a little too quickly. Eric darted right under braking and went for a spin, and I was able to hold it on track and kept going.
1st race 1st win! And with the fastest lap of the race as well!

Unfortunately for the 2nd race, a ballast brick let loose into the back of my seat and cut an ABS wire. 50lbs of flying steel finally caught my nerve enough to pull in and save myself.
During the fun race Sunday I couldnt help myself and went for a ride into the dirt and bumped a tire wall. Damage is cosmetic but I shouldn't have tried "a couple more mph that I was able to do in my gts2 car" on old tires and a bad setup.
Already picked up replacement parts, and lots more upgrades over the off-season to get the car right.

Lastly, I am glad I jumped back in. The car is way more fun, the people are better and I just enjoyed myself a lot more. And that's what it is all about!

It has also been confirmed that BRR-SCCA is hosting an autocross for us in Verona the day after.

Howdy everyone.
We're leaning towards April 16th or April 9th as the day for the show.
When do the SCCA and NASA schedules come out?
