FS: 1984 BMW 533i - Ex Chump Car
Posted by: Jake - 10-27-2015, 07:40 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (16)

This belongs to my roommate, who acquired it in a series of interesting events. He just got a job that requires driving (vs. Metro) and needs to sell this sometime soon-ish so there will be room in our driveway for a commuter car. This car is an ex-Chump Car that was last raced in 2013. I think it completed a few races so it's been pretty reliable on track.

Also, he's looking for a commuter car.

The sale doesn't have to be immediate, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post early and get some discussion going.

Basics

  • 1984 BMW 533i - M30B33 motor
  • 5-speed manual gearbox
  • Light blue paint, applied fairly well. Car was originally Bronzitbeige, I think. Interior was spraybombed white.
  • Oh yeah, not much interior anymore.
  • 16x7" Kosei K1 Racing wheels with some tires you probably don't want to track on. They're fine for street use.

Chump Car / Track-Day-Bro Goodies
  • Full cage (welded in) with front door bars and dash bar. This passed Chump Car safety/tech in 2013, no idea who did the work.
  • 2x aluminum (Kirkey?) racing seats. Driver's seat is a halo, passenger is not.
  • 6-point G-Force harness on driver's side. Passenger side needs harness.
  • Stock, school-bus steering wheel
  • No windows aside from front windshield.
  • No HVAC. Heater core has been removed.
  • All doors gutted - no window regulators, door locks, trim
  • Electrical cut-off switch on driver's side of dash
  • Some sort of exhaust. I think it's basically straight-piped from the headers back. Henry put an AutoZone muffler on it to try and quiet it down for our neighbors. It's still really loud.
  • Brake lines were replaced in the past few years

Random and Possibly Broken Shit
So it's a 30-year-old car with no windows and no heat. Take that for what you will.

The lights all work. He has the "diving board" bumpers but took them off because reasons.

He's got the title for it, and did obtain Antique license plates (no safety, no emissions required) to drive it on the street a bit. So... you can do that too. It's just kind of unpleasant unless it's 72* and sunny.

Shifter is a beautiful representation of "hot dog down a hallway" and could really use all new bushings.

Spares
I know he's got a few rebuilt brake calipers for it. Mayyybe some Rock Auto pads, too.

There's also some spare wheels that are of some multi-spoke design with some crap tires on them. I think he's got two of those.

Money.
Looking for $2100 OBO.

So, discuss. I think it'd be great for someone with space to keep it (Channing?!) to buy and run an MM Chump team with. It'd also be a great autocross/HPDE car. No idea where it would go in TT but hell, do that too.

Just get it out of my driveway. Please. The neighbors are starting to complain.

Featuring both wheel styles at once - most of the stickers have been removed now:

Black fender is because the PO hit something at the last Chump race and crunched it up a bit.

Jeep Cherokee 1993 Wheel Stud Rebel

Hey guys, my friend has a 93' cherokee and replacing his rotors has been an absolute nightmare. While taking his wheel off we had to use liquid wrench to take off a lug. That ruined a stud and now re-attaching it is an absolute nightmare. I have washers attached and an impact gun to try and use this method

  1999 Miata
Posted by: Scott - 10-20-2015, 11:29 PM - Forum: For Sale/Trade, WTB - Replies (21)

1999 Mazda Miata, 112k, motor has 60k (original was lost to a bad thrust bearing). Clutch, timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, accessory belts, transmission fluid, and differential fluid all replaced when the swap was done. Newer top with a glass back window and defrost. AC, cruise control, power locks, power windows, CD player, limited slip differential. 5 speed manual. No accidents, all body panels have the original VIN numbers. Located in Waynesboro, VA.

I commute 800 miles a week on the interstate and I just bought (impulse buy from my neighbor) an '01 6 speed car that should be a little better.....

$5,500 obo.

  Project: 2003 BMW M3
Posted by: RawrImAMonster - 10-19-2015, 09:49 AM - Forum: Member's Projects - Replies (323)

Welp, I picked up another BMW over the weekend. For the price I paid for it, it is in great shape. It runs perfectly, the interior looks like it has half the miles that it actually does and the paint is pretty good as well. There are some areas that I need to have touched up on the paint, but overall it's not bad at all.

As far as immediate plans go, I need to do an oil change and a valve adjustment as soon as I get a chance. The valves aren't clicking or anything, it's just time to do one. I think it may have a bad transmission mount, it has a little bit of a clunk when you shift it into first gear. I might be able to get it up on a lift this evening and take a look. Otherwise, I think everything else is sound mechanically.

Overall, I'm really happy with it for now. It handles way better than the 135i and is just more responsive in every way. The way this motor revs is fun as hell and the amount of power works for this car. It absolutely screams at the top of 3rd gear. Having said that, I'll probably do headers and a tune at some point to squeeze out another 30 hp or so. I'm going to try to source exhaust parts used as they come up for sale, so we'll see. There aren't a whole lot of exhaust combinations that sound good on these cars, but there is one I've found that I love.

Since I really didn't pay too much for this car I'm going to try to get it out on the track at some point. Track insurance is only $150 a day so that's not too bad. It has all seasons on it at the moment, so I'll have to find some better tires before next spring.

James Aguilera Intro - Wrangler 2015 JK
Posted by: JamesAgy - 10-15-2015, 02:38 PM - Forum: Introductions - Replies (15)

Hey everyone. A little delayed with my intro but I figured better late than never. My name's James and I'm a junior Intelligence Analysis major and a third year Air Force ROTC cadet. I'm from McLean, Virginia, which is 2 hours from Harrisonburg and about 15 mins out from D.C. I got my first car this summer, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport with some bonus packages. It's got everything standard except for power windows/locks, upped stock tires, and a couple other widgets. I got this car as a reward for my birthday/scholarship/finishing a month of ROTC training over the summer so it was a welcomed gift. I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all to go mudding with you Jeepers/off-roaders soon.

Edit: I also realize there's now multiple people named "James". I also go by "Agy" to make things easier.

Here's some eye candy.

Summit Main Nov 7/8 NASA MA Fall Finale
Posted by: Kaan - 10-13-2015, 11:49 AM - Forum: Events - Replies (40)

who will be there? I'll be in group 2... i'm assuming we are going to paddock in the normal spot.

entry count so far:
HPDE 1: 24 (with a wait list of 5)
HPDE 2: 33
HPDE 3: 28

I dont know when they are shutting down the car counts but we have to be getting close. 33 cars on 1 mile of Summit in group 2 is going to be interesting on street tires.

Just for grins I figure I'd put this on here in hopes of getting at least a sixer of Natty Ice and maybe even a few minutes alone with RJ's world renowned hand.

2007 Odyssey EX-L 159k. Slate Green / Grey interior. 2nd owner, full history. DVD rear entertainment system, heated leather seats, sunroof, automatic opening rear doors, remote start, etc. Second set of steelies with snows also available.

This van has seen some sh*t, literately, I have 3 kids and a dog.

It's up on CL for $7900, but very negotiable if someone's family is interested in it.
