Madison Automotive Apprentices will be hosting an open house on October 14th for out of town Porsche club chapters and MM has been asked to host a cruise into Harrisonburg and out 33 into WV as well as hang out with a bunch of really cool Porsches.
The plan as of now looks like we will be hosting Porsche club chapters from out of town to bring
a group of cars into Harrisonburg for lunch, show and shine concours and end up at the new MAAP garage/classroom facilities that evening. The idea is to pair up with the local Porsche club(s) who are hosting the event and lead their cars into town on a morning tour. The downtown pavilion (Farmer's Market shelter) is reserved from 1-3 and there is a banquet meal and silent auction planned at MAAP. So, there will be plenty of opportunities for MMS members to help and get close to lots of really cool cars and meet and mingle with other car enthusiasts.
More details to come as we get closer to October

With Justin making the Purchase decision thread, I think the other major theme of my catastrophe of a thread was personal finance. We don't have a thread for this already, right? We have a stock market thread, but I don't know if that is broad enough.
So everyone has convinced me to get a new CC, which I did last night, so now I'm looking for a bank. What's everyone's opinion on PNC? What's their presence like nationwide?
Also, what are some things a normal recent grad doesn't think to do financially but should? What's something you wish you did when you graduated? Let's avoid "Live in a hut, spend no money, eat lentils." please. I like my income, but I'd really like to supplement is somehow, some way.

Looking back, every few weeks we have a "what should I buy thread". Figured instead of further shitting up an already shitty forum we may as well consolidate. I also didnt see a place that already had these requests joined togehter aside from the Spend Jake's money thread.
Things to consider including:
Vehicles general use
Price range
Manual/Auto/Flappy paddle
Engine
AWD/FWD/RWD
Door # / Body Style
MPG
Yay or Nay?

Worth it posting up here. Trying to dump my mall crawling tires.
For sale (5) used 265/60r18 Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts that came off of my 2008 Toyota 4Runner. All tires have great and even tread (pictured) with one tire having a plug.
Local pickup asking $100 OBO. Vienna, Va

Ah, fuck me up the dickhole with a rusty spoon, I fucking hate this.
Insurance company of the guy that hit the Prius (progressive) were being royal fuckfaces. Still no check for the Prius, though it's definitely totaled. Fuck Progressive with a digging iron. I know they didn't get rich writing checks, but fuck, we aren't at fault here.
Went to look at a TL last night. Seemed good: 2007, 138k, TypeS, recent water pump, timing belt, oil pump seal...kept up with the maintenance.
I ask him if everything works on the inside. He says yes, but the nav DVD is scratched. I ask him about accident history, he says none. I ask him about rust, he says the hood has some road pockmarks, but otherwise it's great. Any other problems, says I? He replies that he had to disconnect the Acuralink since it was causing a battery drain (which is super common, not an issue) and that he changed the front three plugs last oil change but still needed the back three. He is asking 9k. (8600 is KBB Dealer Retail) It's high, but he seems like an enthusiast who has taken care of his car, soooooo.
I get there.
Drive 70 miles.
To meet this dude.
It needs new rotors. It has a valve cover leak on the back bank. The passenger side window regulator is malfunctioning, the car is filthy dirty ("It's my daily!"). "Hey the AC works great!" he says. Do you ever have to put refrigerant in? "No, but I did have to charge it at the beginning of the summer." GOD DAMN IT THAT IS WHAT THAT MEANS. TPMS light is on "oh yeah two of my sensors broke, and I just put in valve stems."
I drive it. It makes nice noises. It's not as fast as I thought but it's fine. It's a fine car. Nothing is a deal breaker but in my mind I'm like $, $, $.
See, if I buy a POS that needs work, eh, that's on me. If it leaves me on the side of the road because I didn't change that fringy accessory belt then, well, I'm on the side of the road and I guess I'll figure it out.
But this isn't my car. So I explain this to the guy. I'm like look, I'm gonna have to probably drop almost a grand in this son of a bitch right off the bat and that's assuming you've kept up with all the suspension stuff. I offer 6800, you can sleep on it. Thanks for your time.
He texts me this morning that is price is firm. Ok guy, good luck. Thanks for wasting my goddamned time.

Alright fam, we can't have an entire thread dedicated to food and not have a complimentary thread for maintaining good health and staying in shape. So let's talk about gym routines, exercise routines, health products, smart dieting(got food allergies?) and the likes.
I'll start. I just got back into the gym again since March. After moving back to Harrisonburg I got carried away and did all the eating and beer drinking but none of the moving. I'm about to start a weight lifting routine again next week. The last three weeks has been 1 of hour cardio almost everyday.
The lifting routine I plan to follow is a full body workout I found on Reddit. Biceps, triceps, traps (any motion, with a mixup every 2 weeks), bench press, deadlift, squats, with 10 mins of cardio to warm-up and 10 mins cardio to end. I'm probably going to alternate cardio and lifting days. My goal is an attempt at just recompositioning myself. I am more concerned with fatloss than muscle build up though. I'd like to be 160-170 of muscle. Eventually the routine will change but I don't know when or to what. I also have no interest in brotein or any of that jazz quite yet either.
Food: I'm aiming for 2000 calories a day and generally nothing fried, nothing super fatty, not a fuck ton of carbs and no lactose products anymore (I'm lactose intolerant). It's not a super strict diet, my biggest concerns are portion size, the quality of the food and the frequency of eating.
As for being lactose intolerant it took me a hot minute to avoid cheese, the biggest culprit for me. I already don't like cow's milk and ice cream isn't a temptation but man let me tell you, you don't realize how much cheese you consume until you start to try and avoid it. I'm also going to have to start paying attention to gravy's/sauces. Any kind of chowder is also out of the question now. I just had biscuits and gravy this morning with breakfast, didn't think it had milk in it and I heard my friend comment "oh yeah I just added some extra milk that really brought it together"....yah...my body is telling me I definitely had lactose today lol. Almond milk is my everything now. It's so good. I can crush an entire bottle in a day.
Anyway, I'm gladly taking tips, but enough about me what are you guys doing??
