It doesn't take long for word to get around huh? I've had a lot of people asking about a "rumor" and so I guess I'd better just fess up. I got a new toy...

2004 Honda CBR600 F4i, Black and Yellow. Drove it off the showroom floor a couple of weekends ago. I don't know, I just had this urge, and one test ride later it was over. Other contenders were the R6 and the GXR600. Once you sit on the F4i though, the comfort blows the other two away. I'm close to 600 miles on it now, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This thing redefines what I used to consider "performance." 0-60 in the low 3 seconds (ask Sean), 0-100 faster then you can imagine. Balance, brakes, handling, looks, it's great, I am so in love and absolutely addicted beyond rehabilitation. I'm happy to give people rides, but sorry, you can't drive it.

Today, I was meeting with a friend in Alexandria along with her sister, and her sister's ex. After a few minutes of talking, my friend said, "you know Jack, Rob (the ex) is into racing."

I said "racing what?"

He said, "now I'm driving a camaro and a mazda."

I said "mazda what?"

"RX-7"

After talking to him for a while, I found out he races SCCA and has won a national championship. He was very modest about it and it took a while to come out, but he was the 1999 Touring 2 nat'l champ. He is in love with RX7s (has had several) and told me to tell all you haters in MM that RX-7s are awesome cars. He has raced world challenge as well. His name is Rob Hines. Cool guy. The end of my story.

Just your pretty standard HPDE and race weekend (Spec-M, HC, 944, Vette/Viper, AI, Pro Sedan) but with NASA-SE. I'll be flagging or working in some way since I'm too poor to drive. Ryan? G? Are you guys seriously thinking about coming down? We can house 2 guests comfortably, 4+ uncomfortably. Come run so I can get a chance to use the blue flag.

Well, it's about time I shared this with the group...

Jess and I closed on a house last Friday. It's in Fluvanna County, VA - the mailing address is Palmyra, but the house itself is way out in the country. Why did we buy a house in Palmyra? I got a great job offer from a software development firm in Charlottesville - and we both decided that NoVA held no more charm for us So by July we'll be living just southeast of Charlottesville. Yes, there will be a party. And no, Mapquest doesn't have our place listed at all. Apparently, gravel roads don't count. That being said, we'll only be a couple of hours from VIR, so hopefully I can expect to get down there much more often. And of course VMP is less than an hour away.

The lot itself is 2.15 acres. Yes, there will be a mini rally course. Bring your own volvo :twisted:



As for the house, 3br/2bath, and most importantly, a 2-car garage. The L already has one side reserved through the winter, for a complete top-down clean-up and refresh... It's also got a cool nook in the garage that I'm considering for a built-in wheel/tire rack. Also cool is the fact that our next-door neighbor (one of the two houses we can see from ours) drag-races an old-skool 515ci Camaro (he was headed out to VMP this weekend)..

So, life is good. Any MM-er in the area or passing through is always welcome (but for my sake please call ahead!) - we'll have a guest room. You bring the beer

I have a nice 9 minute VIR video with good action in it that Im encoding now and will upload when its done.
Ill move on to VIR-N and Summit footage next and get them online when they are compressed. (which takes quite some time- the 9 minute video alone has taken over 12 hours of processing!)
