You've never had a crepe?  Or a danish?   Or a croissant?  Or a waffle?
Hell even doughnuts are dutch.
Nothing uniquely american about sugar for breakfast, if anything we eat more bacon and eggs than anybody else.

I was moreso commenting on my daughter asking for dessert after essentially eating chocolate chip cookies for breakfast

America, and specifically the South, does the best breakfast on the face of the planet. There is absolutely no debate to this.

To be fair, we bastardized (improved?) the shit out of all of those. Make larger, add more sugar/fat = 'Murica.

No we didnt.  I've been to Europe.   (Edit for the dim: The pastries are the same there as they are here)

I'm tired of the stupid-fat-american narrative.

No. Freaking. Way. You've been to Europe? Is it just like the movies? How amazing!

There's a reason why our Coca Cola/Soft Drinks and our Chocolate tastes so different. We tend to add more sugar and/or fat. Why you have trouble connecting that to pastries is curious to me, but alas, you have been to Europe and are a man of the world who knows better than me.

This probably makes me more qualified to debate the point, given I've also been to Europe??
