Ive owned a few, and Id love a 200hp miata.
The only reason to not like a higher hp miata is if it compromises anything else that makes it great. (ie- iron v8 miata with a stick axle)
There is no reason not to love a miata with a lightweight high revving I4 that makes 220+ hp. Something like the engines that honda used to make before they lost their soul.

Just that nobody here interacts with people who use their vehicles like that often.

Let me get this straight. Your hauling enough big heavy shit that you need a full size truck, but you cant be bothered to pull a handle and lower the tailgate yourself? For fucks sake, this is getting out of control.
My Titan has gas pistons in the tailgate that let you pull the handle and just let it drop. I thought *that* was luxurious and unnecessary.
Uh have you ever been carrying heavy shit and had to put it down to open your tailgate instead of pressing a button on the remote? Have you ever wanted a "lockable" pickup bed (combine with a retrax lockable) that at a push of a button unlocks instead of having more keys on your already heavy key ring (because trailer lock/side door lock/etc). You KNOW you would like a power tailgate.
Also yeah I need a tough bed. Even my pickup bed that is "old GMC" steel with a very thick rhinolining has HUGE dents/dings/bends from use and I am not a contractor. A durable pickup bed is VERY important to me. (Think used rotors/steel that I am throwing in the bed to go take to the recycler) The carbon fiber actually sounds awesome if its stronger, but my concern is once Carbon Fiber breaks, it cracks, not just dents; and I dont want to know replacement cost.

If youre carrying heavy shit and cant pull the handle, you cant fish in your pocket and pull out a remote either. A handle takes exactly as many hands as a remote. If it had the foot wiggle sensor at least you would have a case for the times you dont think ahead to put the gate down.

I had 500 miles on my Canyon and I had a guy not so gently max the payload with a pallet of engineered hardwoods. My truck isn't getting a workout like my Toyotas used to when I worked in construction but yeah, I would drop a lot of heavy stuff in them fairly regularly.
Evan: I have the same feature on my truck tailgate and I love it. My buddy with a Raptor actually noticed it the other day and said he wished he had that feature on his truck. I also keep my tailgate locked constantly because I keep hearing these stories about tailgates getting stolen

Tailgate theft is actually pretty common. Especially on Toyotas.
We used to swap people's tailgates in highschool without them noticing.

Probably even more of an issue with the new, fancy feature-filled ones like on the new Sierra. I think I read that the average cost to replace a tailgate (plus paint) is like $3,500+
I'd hate to see a repair bill on a carbon composite box being damaged in an accident...

I find it far easier to press a button on my remote than get my hands in the above waist position while carrying weight and lift up on a handle. I guess you are better than me but there are lots of time I am walking out of my house with a set of wheels and I can have the keys in my hand and carry 2 wheels/tires. Hitting a button and then throwing the wheels in is way better than putting the load down, or making sure to go outside first, unlock the tailgate, go back inside, then grab the wheels then go back outside... It's a convenience item for sure, but a way to save time/effort is a plus in my mind.
Never locked a tailgate? How did you feel about leaving out thousands of dollars worth of equipment in the back of your bed at a hotel on the way to a race weekend? I also use a metal retracting bed cover with a lock, the soft tops are laughable on real protection (I think that's what you are getting at with the screen door?)

the tailgates/beds if they're damaged will just get lifted off the frame and replaced. I'm guessing the cost isnt that much different. Maybe offset parts cost by not having to paint some of it. Its neat but I am really not sure that I understand the use of composites here.
