I don't think we have a health insurance thread and I don't know that we need one and this is the most current job related thread so figure I'd ask here.

Trying to enroll in aca marketplace plans for next year cause mine is going up $100 a month and I already can't afford it but when I enter my application and try to look at offered plans, I can only see 5 plans, all from Cigna, all costing more than i pay now. I feel like this is an error or am I wrong and they'll only offer me Cigna plans now?

Depends on region from what i can tell, could be possible its only Cigna near you.

As for increase, yup. Thanks to Government pissing contest, Cigna assumed that the federal subsidies will not be paid when it priced its plans. Chance it could be reimbursed later but for now, it's an increase.

I mean last year, I had like 15 or so plans to pick from. From at least 3 different companies but probably more. This year it's just 5 Cigna plans showing up with no option for a premium under $260 per month.

Pretty much all insurance is going up, it's not surprising the shitshow of Obamacare is doing the same.

Our company had industry-leading health benefits but since a PE firm bought our parent company a few months ago and insurance costs keep rising, we went from a 90/10 plan down to an 80/20 with higher copays, deductibles and max out of pockets across the board. AND I have to pay more for it, that's the kick in the nuts

That is definitely not helping, but premiums were going up either way.

A lot of companies have pulled out of the health care exchange.

I pay $280/month for family coverage on Blue Cross. Our deductible is $1000/person, but Amazon pays half that and I use an FSA for other half (pre-tax). We're then covered 90/10 and use the rest of the max allowable FSA ($2600) on that co-insurance. One of us had a minor medical event pretty much every year, so the $2000/person out of pocket limit was nice. It's now $6000 for the family because we have a kid, which I seriously hope we don't hit any time soon. We did when he was born; the sweet upside to that was every single medical thing for the remaining six months of the plan year was free to us. I think the real benefit, though, is the negotiated rates. 10% co-insurance is pretty good when the price of services drops like 40% before a single cent is paid.

They drop more like 70% if you pay up front, too, for small things.

Costs and transparency are out of control.

I would very much recommend taking a look at Liberty Healthshare. That's been working for my family for about a year, with lower premiums and deductable than I could even get close to via the gov exchange. And they actually answer the phone and can answer questions.

This thread is probably as good as any, so I'm crossposting what I just put on Facebook.

I've used Plural Sight for refreshers. My company has an account I can use. Really useful because you can watch the videos at 1.5 speed and still learn them.

Maybe http://www.headfirstlabs.com/sql_hands_on/ if you're really just looking for some easy hands on stuff.

Why do you need refresher?

Id probably start with the codecademy sql course(s).   Its codecademy so its probably written for an 11 year old,  so you would probably breeze through it quickly after knocking off the rust.
https://www.codecademy.com/catalog/language/sql

After that Id do the datacamp sql course.  Ive been a datacamp subscriber for a couple years and the quality of their content is very very good.
https://www.datacamp.com/courses/intro-t...ta-science

also, as a supplement,  I'm a huge fan of enki.  (android app)   Lessons are split up into daily 5 minute "workouts"  optimized for phone screens.   My poops have never been so productive.
