350AWHP is closer to 400 at the crank taking driveline loss into account. and without the STi 6 speed, you're at the edge of shredding gears by that point.
Can we just rename this thread "Crushed hopes and dreams" ?
Is 6sp swap possible? I'm sure you can upgrade a sti have 300 wheel, could you not upgrade the legacy motor (j255 or something?) To make 300 wheel, 350 crank?

More like 450hp to the crank with AWD drivetrain loss. STis only make 220-250whp depending on a "Crushing dreams dyno" or "hopeful as hell" dyno.

Let's see. On a stock 08+ wrx, you could probably get to 300whp (or mighty close like maybe 280ish) on the stock turbo with full exhaust, tune, intake, and maybe new intercooler. But much more than that and you're replacing the turbocharger and adding supporting mods.
And yes, 6MT swap is possible. If you don't want a wagon, the SpecB came with the 6 speed minus the DCCD.

Approaching 90k miles it all comes down to maintenance, if the bushings are tight and it's had a cooling system service recently, then its worth it, if not, its overpriced.
I saw one for sale with 90k last week that had practically no maintenance done and they were only asking $9k because of it.

I wanted to say this but i wasn't 100% sure. I'm used to buying piles of what's left of an M3. Still wouldn't pay more than $12k for a nice one. Probably wouldn't even pay that much as nice ones still usually need something fixed.

Let's see. On a stock 09+ wrx, you could probably get to 300whp (or mighty close like maybe 280ish) on the stock turbo with full exhaust, tune, intake, and maybe new intercooler. But much more than that and you're replacing the turbocharger and adding supporting mods.
And yes, 6MT swap is possible. If you don't want a wagon, the SpecB came with the 6 speed minus the DCCD. Edited - 08 got the TD04, it wasn't until '09 that the WRX got the bigger turbo.
Also you can upgrade the gears in the 5-speed - you don't need to do a 6-speed swap.

Is an Auto M3 for ~6k a decent daily driver? Ive been thinking about ditching the 'bu and getting something else as a beater with less miles.

Engine/drivetrain are near bulletproof if proper routine maintenance is done.
However, the soft-top is real piece of work. I would probably skip it.

Ok. I gave up on that pretty quick. Can someone find me this car, for less than 14k, and not on the west coast?

You can find 540i/6-speed combos with relative ease. The genuine M-Sports are much harder to find.
Now:

Then:

Even the newer Msports are tricky to find too. I briefly looked for a few of the 550i Msports but they are few and far between
