I third this. Doesn't look any sportier than a new impala. I think I'd take the KIA optima over this. Bet it has more tech on the inside.

I don't need fancy magnetic suspension because I'm sure it's dumbed down for average consumers and probably feels no different and also because GM, it'll probably break or go bankrupt or something.

Honestly, Nascar is superior to any other motorsports in terms of money making potential. It's just too easy.

Actually Gerald.. If you read further into the original Reddit article it really had nothing to do with the popularity of NASCAR as a sport but a marketing tactic to increase DogeCoin value.. Imagine seeing this going around the track at Talledega and wondering what the hell DogeCoin is.. BOOM. Value goes up and the "sponsors" profit. Brilliant actually.

That's the thing though, NASCAR is by far the most marketable motorsport in America. They could've bought space on a USCR car, AMA Superbike, Pirelli World Challenge Car, or Global Rallycross Car but none of those come close to NASCAR in exposure. I bet there are people from those other chapionships that would wear a Shiba Inu costume to the track to get that sponsorship money.

It does indeed if you buy one new. Fortunately it seems to cap off after a certain point assuming you keep it low mileage and you have a desireable model. I think there is still that perception that Jags are super unreliable or that they are for old people so the used market reflects that.

How can you ever enjoy anything if you're constantly worrying about depreciation? Picking one up in 3-4 years should solve that problem anyway. If we ever meet up I'll let you hoon around for a minute in DSC TRAC mode (I haven't even completely disabled it yet)...you'll see why. I can't imagine the same power in a smaller, lighter platform

The depreciation argument makes a huge difference in how you're able to enjoy cars though. If you have the choice between two sports cars with similar performance/fun and one depreciates horribly, why wouldn't you go with the more financially sound option? In the case of the Jag, if you compared it to something like a new 911, the difference in depreciation over 3-5 years could be well over $10,000. With a used sports car the gap would be wider.

With cheaper cars it's not as big of a deal because you're not losing as much money in absolute terms but if you choose cars with better depreciation curves throughout your car-buying lifetime you're going to be able to enjoy the hobby more and won't have to deal with as much financial pain.

If you have money to burn then depreciation isn't a factor but I don't think any of us have a Scrooge McDuck money bin as of yet.

G, I get the depreciation argument. I'm just tired of hearing it. It's the first thing people on this forum jump to even when they have zero intentions of ever buying the car they are talking about. I can't even count the number of new cars we've talked about over the years that have been shot down for that sole argument by people who aren't even in the market for cars.

It's not hard to beat the depreciation curve even on cars that plummet in value as long as you buy used at a good price and finance it at a low interest rate. That's what I have done for the last 4 or 5 vehicles. I purchase / use cars as more of a commodity than most though.

I have noticed dealerships try to use NADA a lot more now instead of KBB because it's always like $4-6k lower. That doesn't fly at the negotiating table for me :lol:

hock: That thing does indeed look massive. I'm pretty sure they already stated that it's not any lighter (I think it actually gained a few). They really need to 3/4 scale this car.

For the sake of comparison, here are some other not-exactly-small coupes with 19 inch wheels - they look huge on every car except the 'stang, what kind of visual wizardry is going on here?
