Dan Gurney should be winning this poll

SPEED POLL at bottom of page

The selection of drivers is awesome, but the results of the poll truly show the stupidity of the common racing fan. I guess being cool is something other than being successful. I would consider Dan to be the most successful and versitile person involved with motor sports ever. Mario would be a close second.

 Engine Restorer oil additive
Posted by: DierwulfBL - 05-11-2004, 11:12 AM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (15)

I dunno if any of you guys have seen this stuff in automotive stores, it comes in a silver can and you add it to your oil and supposedly it will restore compression. They had some pretty cheesy graphs in a magazine that didnt look very convincing but i figured 5 bucks it was worth a shot. It also has a gaurantee that you feel a difference on engines over 40k within 500 miles of adding the stuff. I put this stuff in and about 2-300 miles later i definitely felt a slight difference. The car has more pickup at lower rpms and takes less gas to accelerate than before, also my car is consuming less oil which is an added bonus. Anywho i would recommend this to anyone who thinks theyre compression isnt what it used to be.

 my report on south carolina

well i moved into my humble abode in greenville, SC on friday night. its hot as balls down here, 24-7. i've noticed that most cars are either horrendously ricey or extremely sweet, its one end or the other. everyone speeds like crazy too, i mean, i am constantly getting not passed, but getting my doors sucked off by minivans, trucks, tricycles, whatever. all the roads are basically flat and boring except for about 2% of them (i've already checked out one good one which is like a compressed version of 33W). gas is mad expensive. the chicks are all kinds of good looking. well i gotta run, i have to get on the internet at the library until my inteRnet gets hooked up. later fellas!

I am going to check out a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 500r with 4,600 miles on Tuesday. My dad is coming along and we are going to take his pick up truck. It is very likely if it is in good condition that I will buy it. I will keep you guys posted. I am really excited about this. Confusedhock: Big Grin

$65
Mask, Spyder semi-automatic paintball gun, C02 tank, 230 round hopper, 50 round hopper, loading tube filled with balls. Got it a few years back, just haven't really had the time to play so I need to get rid of it.

I will be there crewing for a team with an Integra and (i think) we've added a Porsche 914 as well this year, I dont think the B16 Civic hatch will be there.

Is anyone interested? We are looking for a few extra people to come up and help out during the race. We wil need some people to get fuel, take lap times, etc.

Team website is www.dz-racing.com - I crewed last year, and had a blast, its a really exciting experience to be around. Both cars are sorted, so we should be free of any busted shit fiascos. The time frame is show up friday for practice/qualifying and any extra work that needs to be done, and then back again saturday morning for a 12pm start, the race runs until 12am and from there its an hour or two to clean up. Last year we worked in shifts so that we could get some sleep during the race.

If any of you are interested let me know ASAP so I can get you on the crew list.

 preference in convertibles
Posted by: Maengelito - 05-07-2004, 05:35 PM - Forum: Lounge - Replies (52)

Since school is winding down and this board wont be as active as it used to be, I thought I'd start a discussion to keep your minds stimulated.

i think the old school true definition of "sports car" is a RWD 2 door convertible. so if you wanted a convertible, what kind would you get? i've broken them down into the following categories that i made up on my own with a few examples. feel free to throw in more suggestions

econo-roadster - miata, mr2

old school roadster - fiats, sunbeams

luxury - boxster, Z3/Z4/M3 convertible, MBZ SLK or SL's, those volvo convertibles that i dont know the alphanumeric name for

beater roadster - E30 convertible, FC rx-7 convertibles

uhhh, regular roadster - audi TT/beetle, mustang convertible, S2000

as for me, I really would consider getting an old school convertible because they're dirt cheap (well, most of them) and I wouldnt drive it much except on nice days (so if it breaks down a lot, it wouldnt put me out of a car on days i wanna drive it) i also think having an s2k would be nice because i'm a ricer at heart and i'd like to rev to 9k without owning a motorcycle. (having a motorcycle would be nice too)
