Insert childish joke here.
I'm curious what people out there carry because I'm thinking I was something new. I carried a Benchmade knife for years but stopped carrying when my previous employer banned any "weapons" on campus. After that I carried around the Leatherman Charge for awhile and loved it, even though it was big and bulky. I had to stop wearing it once I bought pants that actually fit me because there was no way to carry it comfortably. It's still great for camping, hiking, etc but not for every day use.

Over the last couple months I found myself in a few situations that reminded me the zombies won't care if my pockets are big enough. I'm thinking of something a bit more minimal, but I'd still something more than "just a knife."

I bought the groomsmen at my wedding skeletools. but im sure they are lost or forgotten by now for those fools
i cant see carrying that stuff around on a daily basis though. i cant recall the last time ive needed anything like that and i like to keep my pockets light. i did bring one to montana but never needed it.
years ago i kept a small swiss army knife on my keychain but i forgot about it and it got taken at the airport.
I've carried a Kershaw Ken Onion Tanto knife for a long time. I can't carry it inside the courthouse but anywhere else I wear it.
I also keep a Leatherman Wave in my truck amongst multiple other tools

I've got a few laying around the house but I just can't see a situation coming up where I'm going to need something like that in my pocket all the time.

I am really gay for the SOG multitools because of the geared plier heads. 99% of what I use a "multi" tool for is actually the pliers, but leathermans (leathermen?) are really hard to use with one hand. Not so with the SOG.
But I carry a Byrd (Spyderco) knife with me all the time, so I don't really use my multitool that much. Maybe at the new job I will.

You'd be surprised how handy they are when you're carrying one. Yeah, you can get through life without one and if you've never done it, you wouldn't miss it. Since I stopped carrying mine, there are have been multiple occasions where I've said "well I used to carry one" and even 3-4x in the last month. I keep a crappy one in my trunk and it's proven woefully inadequate in a couple of those situations. Besides, what are you gonna do when the zombies come and you gotta run for the hills?

I'll give you $20 for it. (Cool groomsmen gift btw.)

i keep a leatherman wave in my backpack. couldn't deal with another thing in my pocket all the time, but occasions where i need my backpack are typically occasions where the leatherman comes in handy.

I carry a gerber multitool in the Jeep, but been thinking about one of these for everyday pocket use, no longer than my everyday pocket knife around 3 1/2 closed.....

Although not much compared to most of the multi-tools out there, I carried one of these <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.brookstone.com/flashlight-multi-tool.html">http://www.brookstone.com/flashlight-multi-tool.html</a><!-- m --> through my AF SERE training. The light proved invaluable after I discovered I hadn't packed any batteries for my other flashlight.
I'm going to buy one of these <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.benchmade.com/products/9051">http://www.benchmade.com/products/9051</a><!-- m --> soon because I'm deploying again next month and need another knife.
Also, does anyone have any thought on the Griptilian? I might want one of those too.

Do you know of a place that sells Benchmade knives cheap? They can get quite costly.
I have been looking to pick up a SOG Flash 2 knife. It sits low in the pocket and is pretty lightweight. The assisted open is pretty cool too. There are tons of options to choose from for that model

I dont think Benchmade and Cheap go in the same sentence.
Assist-open knives have yet to get thin enough for me to comfortably carry. I love the idea, it's just way too thick for me. (TWSS)
As far as "benchmade" and "cheap"...you CAN get them cheap. You can find them on clearance or at deal of the day websites for great deals...but you have to keep a keen eye. There's no "one place" where you can get quality knives on the cheap.

I'm not sure how we are defining cheap but when I log in with my active duty mil/law enforcement style account on the Benchmade site my price is listed as 30% cheaper than what they are usually listed for there.

ready for a pocket dump...?..here we go.. This is my EDC (everyday carry)
I carry:
wallet
keys
lighter
chapstick
phone
knife
leatherman wave
cross pen
mini multi tool
My newest blade that I'm carry right now is a RAT Model 1..

Also added to my EDC a fenix ld10
^ love this little light
Personally for me I'm a bit of a knife junkie and there are A LOT of options for knives that are just as comparable as benchmade and cost at least 3x less. Personally all my knives are ones that I can afford to buy again if I lose/break it.. Who wants to buy a $150 benchmade only to loose it in a week?
if you're looking for something for light/affordable I would really look at these two options
Leatherman Squirt $36
Bigger with more function
Leatherman Juice $36
both great.. Squirt is more of a keychain size. I'm thinking about buying the juice because at almost 9oz on my hip my leatherman can get in the way at times.. But I choose to carry it because it's usefulness > weight
