Your DD is now your track car, what do you do?

Stolen from Reddit but fun post. I know some of us have sporty daily drivers, others have more 'average' DDs and others still drive SUVs and trucks.

The rule is - your daily driver is now being built into a track car. Money is no object, custom work is acceptable, and the only things you may not do are sell the car, swap the motor, or destroy it altogether. You must prep your car for a race at VIR that will take place later this year. What do you do??

I'll start...

2005 Yukon Denali
I think the biggest deficiencies with this truck would be the weight, the high center of gravity, and the brakes.

• Remove entire interior
  
• Full weld-in cage
  
• Transmission swap to T56 manual from a Corvette (this can be done, someone has done it already)
  
• Lower it, substantially
  
• Remove roof rack and running boards
  
• Lightweight 18" wheels
  
• Hoosiers, bro
  
• Big brake kit, not sure what would fit, maybe C5 Corvette bits
  
• Three rows of race seats and six-points (total seating for 6)
  
• Retain Magneride shocks (magnetic dampers) but find a way to change responsiveness for track use
  
• Intake and exhaust
  
• Custom tune from Black Bear Performance
  
• Quicker-ratio steering box (this ain't no rack-n-pinion)

Lightweight wheels with sticky tires
The best oil cooler money can buy
Replace caliper pistons with something that won't crack with high heat
Cage
Upgraded intercooler
At least the M3/1M suspension bits, or aftermarket if you want to go all out
Remove rear seats/whatever other interior pieces for weight reduction

The oil cooler and caliper pistons should address most of what these cars have issues with on the track and the rest is just for performance. This should make a "good enough" track car with roughly 375whp (including the intake/tune I already have).

Oh boy.

First. Strip the interior, of course.
Install TRD Supercharger.
5 speed swap
Second gen LSD
Remove transfer case and install center diff.
Take off lift and find a way to lower it a ridiculous amount.
Take off my toolbox and add balasts to the bed to even out the weight distribution
Tundra big brake mod
Take off my sliders


Honestly. There's not much to do unless I ruin all the fun and say convert it to RWD and start chopping up the body to slam it to a car's level.

Nothing else. Not even sticky tires. You could tell which part of the track I was on just by looking for the plume of tire smoke coming from the inside front wheel.

Given my experience with stock GTI brakes, I'm not sure what would happen first if you legitimately tried to track a fully built K04 swapped GTI without any supporting mods. Either you'd cord the inside tire after 10 laps or you'd completely boil the brakes over and die in a fire.

First time I really hustled my car on a back road I got significant brake fade and that's nothing compared to the stress you put a car through on track. I've got new fluid since then but the pedal is still sort of spongy and not confidence inspiring.

Speaking of which I woke myself up yesterday morning driving the BMW for the first time in a couple months. Someone stopped short and I hit the pedal like I was in the VW. hock:

yeah, I did notice that as well pretty quickly. The Evo's brakes legitimately saved my life one time - some asshat tried cutting someone around into the right lane around someone without noticing that it was stopped traffic and jackknifed his car across the highway. I was forced to lay on the brakes and he just barely missed taking out my front end. Positive that he would have in the GTI.
