1995 s14 240sx

So bought this thing like a month ago. Not planning on doing anything crazy on it but still figured I'll make a thread about it.

Stock ka in all it's glory.

A bit rough around the edge, peeling clear coat, kinda rusty, rough interior. BUT, it came with BC racing coilovers, 17x9.5 MB battles, KAZZ 2-Way LSD, Megan headers, ISR 3" Catback, full set of Voodoo arms, other small stuff like Kouki led taillights, front clear lenses, S15 steering wheel.
All those parts (if brand new) add up to more than what I paid for the car. Then factor in the value of a manual 240sx with all it's body panels and interior pieces.
And still has A/C (hopefully it works in summer), cruise control (doesn't work because of s15 wheel lol), and even the original evap charcoal canister!
It made the 4 hour drive back no problem, even traversing 20 miles of compacted snow on the roads in 0F temperature where the previous owner lived (was quite the experience).

The clutch was pretty sticky and grabbed a bit high, so I replaced the clutch master and slave and bypassed the clutch damper. Also had to replace a brake caliper because it leaked all the brake fluid out of the rear right while i was doing the clutch hydraulic stuff. Sadly didn't fix it. New clutch time:
Ebay goodness, XTD "stage 2" clutch, 12lb flywheel. Need to install this asap. + Redline mt90 GL4 fluid. Clutch is gonna see a lot of abuse drifting so I don't want it to start failing mid event. So needs to be replaced

Also the unopened billet aluminum adjustable Voodo13 arms that it came with: Rear upper, rear toe, rear tract, ecc lockout, front tension, and outer tie rods
[Image: wg98GGz.jpg]
Oh yeah the dude also threw me some 18" 350z wheels (anybody want to buy them? lol), spare welded diff, and an ebay catback (gave to a friend),

Did some small stuff involving lights and horn for inspection tomorrow, *crosses fingers*. Want to start dailying it.
Besides that, the only other thing I want to do is install a bucket seat pretty much. Once it gets warmer I need to install new thermostat, aftermarket temp gauge, and silicon rad hoses. Better pads will also be needed. I want to shred off these tires on it right now then put some sticky 200tw 255's on it. Then get a set of spares for drifting.
April 20th first local drift event I plan on taking it to. So hopefully I finish everything I want to do on it by then. Also want to take it to some hpde events.

awesome, always loved the S14 body style the most...and i NEVER see them around anymore. i'd say you got a steal for the hardware bolted to that thing. should make a great little driver/drifter and we haven't had a 240 thread in here in a long time.

one of our older alum had an S13 hatch that he used as a track weekend beater for a while and as i recall it was stone cold reliable aside from some brake upgrades (z-car parts IIRC).

Forgot those cars even existed. So much potential there lost with the truck engine...

Yasss. Love seeing some s-chassis love here. S13 coupes are by far my favorite. I should have bought Matt's when I had the chance years ago.

You dodged a bullet on that one. That thing was a rusty POS. I think the trunk floor completely rotted and fell out.

Well damn. I always thought it was a clean example. I guess I never saw it in person.

These are such cool cars.  I really should've gotten one of these as my first car as I really desired one (still do), but it was the height of the drift craze and they were all $10k and up.

I rode in a '97 or '98, can't remember, S14 that was Silver Moss in color (my favorite, such a cool color) at one of the Verona autocrosses back when, and it was a KA24DE-T car with a T28 turbo out of a S15 and other goodies.  5Zigen wheels if I remember, looked exactly like this:

Anyways, I had a weird thing for KA-T cars after that, it was great fun.  For less than the price of a SR20 back then (no idea what they cost now) you got more power & torque which was fine by me.  Sport Compact Car magazine had a great SR20 vs. KA-T article back in the day and they sided with the latter, but it wasn't the JDM-tYtE dorifto motor so it was never really cool outside of a subset of 240 nerds I guess.

I'm rambling now, but this was an informative site way back when that I used to cruise:

Good luck with the car & looking forward to seeing its progress!

Oh my that s14 looks so good and looks super dialed. Yeah and the price of swapping an SR in is pretty expensive, KA is pretty stout engine. But it actually isn't that much more expensive to pick up a car already SR swapped (might be semi clapped out) and was considering it, but a stock KA should be less headache overall

I dig the car. Looking forward to seeing your build progress.
I had 2 S13s years ago, a hatch and a coupe. Lots of character and quirks in these cars.
The hatch was a great beater that I drove to work for a while before selling it to an MMer (forgot who). I think he gave it to his sister who never topped the oil off and blew the motor.
I had planned to build the coupe into a track car but it ended up being a salvage rebuild with a washed title. Thankfully sold it to a drifter (with full disclosure) with only losing a $200.

I always LOVED the 97-98 S14s. Best looking 90s sport compact by far IMO. Still a great looking car to this day. Unfortunately by that point of the car's lifecycle they weren't selling many so they were super hard to find on the used market (especially in manual) when I was looking.

My S13 coupe is probably the car I miss the very most. I loved it, please be kind to this S14. <3

Think I miss my s13 more than any other car as well. Yes it was a pile, but it was so fun.

I don't remember you showing any interest Cabell. Are you sure you're thinking of mine? It was matte black rattle can job (looked a hell of lot better than the blue e30 though lol)

The only rust was the trunk floor. Everything else was solid. I sold it to a friend who turned around and sold it a few months later for what I was originally asking ($3500 I think). The guy he sold it to had it looking like a show called from what I could see. I imagine he replaced trunk too. I bought that car 2 days before leaving for jmu freshman year after spending all summer looking for a clean (or even somewhat driveable) hatch. I looked at the car at dusk and completely missed the trunk being rotted out but after the first drive, I knew I wanted it. Paid $1500. Autocrossed the piss out of it and sold it for $2600 or $2800. I still have the grant steering wheel from it. That car sat like 2 inches off the ground too.

Brings me back to the fun carefree days off car ownership
