Sure feels like it.
2013  (MY2014)


C6 was 2005, so they are on about a 7-8 year cycle.
I dont think anything has been confirmed so the 2020 headline is conjecture

The cars I've seen with them have them labeled as parking brakes. Too lazy to google, but I wonder what happens when you pull it at speed. Controlled braking?

I have an electric ebrake too and I wonder about that.

there is probably logic that prevents it from doing anything when car is in drive.
But next rental car I get with a pushbutton e-brake Im sure as hell going to find out.

It just disabled itself. Jess’ LR just disables when you use the throttle and won’t enable at speed.

I forgot to turn it off in my loaner Outback and it turned off when I hit the gas.

My F150 does that too. Although I think it can be re-applied at some kind of speed if you hold the button long enough.

So... I have to ask, was the OG Supra much of a handling queen in the first place? I seem to remember them and the 3000GT as more GT cars - fast in a straight line, didn't fall all over themselves in turns, but not the #1 choice for The Ultimate Corner Carving Machine.

Seems like the 86 is the handler and the Supra is the GT car, so who cares about a quick-shifting ZF8.

Having spent some time previously in the last generation, no is the owner to you question.  I found it very bloated to drive, much more of a GT car.

Agreed on both counts.  There's been a lot of interesting discussion around the MKIV as of late, as it morphs further into a BaT auction queen, and some of said discussion has highlighted a lot of long-running misconceptions of what the MKIV is capable of in the handling department.  The achievements the platform has made in straight-line competition (6 second street driven auto, 7 second street driven 6 speed, 240+ mph mile records, etc.), awesome as they are, have sadly totally overshadowed the car's achievements in the handling world.  

Long story short, IMO (experience in Ryan T's hardtop NA car & a day with a TT 6-speed targa) - the MKIV is incredibly well surefooted & planted feeling, but it's not the most engaging car from a tactile standpoint.  The car will take a set & just grip, but everything is a bit numb.  The biggest detraction for most is the steering, which can be described as "really good Camry steering".  You'll feel a few more degrees removed from the whole experience (& this was intentional by Toyota engineers) than a contemporary E36 M3, but perhaps not drastically so (experienced both pretty close to one another).  The steering feedback was the biggest difference for me, but some rack bushings and suspension sorting would do wonders I'm sure.

I actually greatly preferred driving Ryan's NA car to the TT.  The hardtop felt much more solid & direct/less boaty than the targa, & the Toyota W58 5-speed shifted much better than the Getrag V160 6-speed.  I honestly believe that a turbo kit on a 5-speed hardtop car, with the 4.08 LSD would be a total riot and more of a driver's car than any variety of mega-boosted TT.

Sometimes I feel like the MKIV is a shape shifter.  It's actually not a big car:



....certainly when compared to modern sports/GT offerings, but the engineers baked in 3200-3450 pounds of 90's Toyota indestructibility in that footprint so it feels like a bigger drive than you might expect, hence the bloaty feeling (of course exacerbated by age - in general & worn suspension stuff at this point - and resultant progress in cars since the 90's).  When new, the MKIV got rave reviews for everything including handling and it scored at or near the top in handling contests:



It's insane what the FD and MKIV were able to achieve on early 90's rubber.  Nearing 1g with both being under-tired from the factory (225 all around on the FD, 235/255 on the MKIV).  You definitely feel more plugged-in with the FD however.

Long story long(history lesson): when the subject of MKIV handling comes up, I always like to highlight a couple of badass MKIVs from the early days.  I always enjoyed reading about huge power figures and 1/4 mile stuff, but anything to do with turning drew my biggest interest in reading about these cars.  First being the MKIV of Kent & Karen Rafferty from the Steel Cities Region SCCA.  Together they soaked up a ton of regional and national awards in this car (they had a FD prior and I think moved to Corvettes after).   





The "OneLap Supra" of Andi Baritchi from Texas.  Super rare '98 Quicksilver and he beat the hell out of it racing across the country and on tracks across TX.  The MKIV has finished top-10 several times in the One Lap, with #4 being the highest spot I know of (shared by this car and a black one from Canada).  I archived their One Lap blogs from the early 2000's if you're interested (posted on SupraForums) and it's a great read now as it was then.

Lastly I'll leave you with the Supra campaigned by Greg Caloudas of GSC camshafts & race hotshoe Leh Keen.  To date, this car has some of the most fun to watch in-car footage I've seen.





Oh yeah, the new Supra....I don't hate its looks, but I just can't get behind the BMW collaboration.  I get why it was done for a low-volume sports car, but its left me rather cold about the car.  A lot of soul and mystique just isn't there for me.  I'm sure it'll perform well enough and wish it all the best.

Sorry but after seeing the shot of the old Supra next to the 86, I'd take the 86 all day long over the new Supra. It actually kind of looks like the modern progression of the Supra. And some of the original iterations of what the new Supra would look like we're actually pretty similar to the frs if I recall. I remember right after the 86 came out, there was a picture of a red "Supra" will hub lock wheels from an auto show or something and it looks like a bigger more edgey FRS. At the time I thought it looked too similar but now with what the final product looks like, definitely think they should have stuck with the similar one

The more I think about it, Toyota would have been better off naming it something else and leave the old Supra legacy alone. With a new name, I think we'd all have a slightly different tune.

No it's still the ugliest thing Toyota has produced in recent memory regardless of name. Not counting Lexus's cause they're all pretty ugly and this actually looks like a Lexus.

I'd rather have a new Camry over that.

Curious about the same thing.  At the same time, I love the LC but it is definitely a big car in person, & I'm glad the MKV is a "small" car. I guess they could've chopped it down a bit like they did with the SC for the MKIV.

Some more leaked photos of the production car, and apparently pricing is $49k.  I still like the styling.  Still wish it had a better soul in the form of a Toyota-developed I-6.

$50-55k isn't outrageous but I just don't see a lot of reason to buy this over a GT350, M2, Stingray, or ZL1. I'm sure it'll have better fit and finish than the domestics but when you can get 400-650 how for similar money with handling to match and a choice of a manual or ZF auto the Supra doesn't have a strong case.
