That's a bummer man.  Roads this time of year are a mess!  I assume you got a plate on your arm?

Plate and screws. Doc said I could keep it in a brace or surgery. I opted surgery as I have many more active years left and want optimum mobility!

The great rebuild of 2018. Took about an hour to remove the old front. Will sell off:

• Brakes ($100)
  
• Forks ($125)
  
• Stem + triple tree($150)
  
• Front Wheel + Tire ($200)
  

I expect to get $400-500 for everything. The naked stems and triple trees are worth at least $150 alone.

She's ready for the donor Gixxer swap coming in tomorrow. It's basically plug and play. I'll have to spend some time getting the gauges, headlight, and speedo working.

I gotta ask, how "instant" is the usability of your arm?  I broke mine (radius and ulna, arm was bent, it was ugly) in HS and chose no surgery.  Obviously the overall healing time was longer for me but I was always curious how quickly you'd be back to normal function with plates and screws.

I have a 4-6 week recovery time, but I had good mobility while it was broken so I anticipate 4 weeks. I'm using it more and more every day.

I don't visit a project thread for a week and miss out on bionic arms. I feel like maybe there's a Most Interesting Man in the World meme here referencing "I don't always work on projects..."

The reason I stopped riding is because there are wet leaves on the road here like eight months a year. It took me one front wheel lockup where I almost ended up in the back of a randomly stopped car before I decided maybe riding and I needed to take a break.

Good to hear you're doing well-ish and haven't been spooked.

Plan of attack for Gixxer front end swap:

1. Disassemble fork and de-grease/clean everything including calibers and wheel
   
2. Get triple trees mounted up in head tube
   
3. Rebuild forks (oil seals, dust seals, new 5WT fork oil)
   
4. Install forks, clip-ons, and mount controls
   
5. Figure out how to mount headlight and gauges
   
6. Install new tire up front
   
7. Ride it
   
8. Work through building "Hall Effect" sensor for speedometer
   

I've already pulled off the controls from the GSXR front since you reuse the SV controls. Should put some more dollars back in pocket by selling off those items too.

Speaking of which, anybody have access to a fork spring compressor tool?
