A 600 race bike literally has enough grunt in any gear for anything you'll ever encounter on the streets. 16k redline (on the gsxr at least), you could stay a gear or 3 lower and definitely not have to worry about not having enough power.

i get bored with 600ccs. they just don't have the tq when you want to play (aka angry wheelies)
sure a brand new 600 is a different animal, but 5-6 years ago i think they are still boring. but i'd also prefer a speed triple over a gsxr750 these days.

I was literally listening to Triple Whistle Exhaust videos on the way into work today.. I'm convinced a 675 Daytona fitted with an Arrow exhaust is the trumpet of the Motorcycle gods. All that snap, crackle, pop.

If they bring the crossplane to the R6..... Lawd Jesus help me.
They wont.
There is noise about a new daytona with the 765cc motor... probably 2-3 years out though.

The motor exists in their factory Moto2 bikes and there is STRONG hinting that they will go this way. That would be a riot on the street.
Edit: In other news sexy new Pilot Road 5s showed up. Mmmmmmmm, just look at all that delicious sipping. Smells like fresh rubber in the house now.

When I get home this afternoon I'm gonna put tiny little pebbles in your trucks valve stems so that it slowly releases air out of your tires over time.

Hope you like your new octane rating of sugar.
Well it finally happened. Every rider knows it's not a matter of if just when. Headed to family game night last Friday and took a "fun" road in between the main road and my parents house around dusk. Speed limit is around 25-35mph. Was making my way through a turn and mid-turn hit a patch of debris from what appeared to be a truck tire covered in mud pulling out. The front end of the SV lost traction causing me to stand the bike up mid-turn. When standing the bike up it only goes one way. Straight.
I went head on into the side with the bike going right and me hitting hard on the left. I slid about 15 yard before bouncing off the tree at 12 o'clock. This ride I was wearing my heavy leather jacket, armored pants, riding boots, armored winter gloves, and my helmet of course. Stood up and was immediately caught in that "fuck" moment. Nobody was on the road when I went down. I noticed some pain in my arm, but that was it. Two gentleman helped me pull the SV out of the dirt and when I grabbed the clutch that was when I felt the searing hot pain in my right arm.
EMS/Police showed up, checked me out and were surprised how low my heartbeat was and what condition I was in. They didn't think I had broken any bones. The police asked me a few questions and I was not issued a ticket. When I moved the bike off the road it started and ran. Initial glance saw some cosmetic damage. After being checked over I told them I would ride the bike the 10 minutes to my folks place.
I left the bike overnight and picked it up the next day. Still no thought about my arm. Finally, Sunday I got xrays and that's when I learned I had broken the Ulna in my right forearm.
The bike has some bumps and bruises, but she'll mend. I had surgery this past Friday and I expect a speedy recovery.
Right now, from what I can tell the fender is cracked, speedo bracket is bent, and the left side frame slider took a solid beating and did it's job. I think it could have been worse had I hit actual pavement. All the gear did it's job, but I know from now on I will not be wearing my leather jacket anymore. It has no built in armor. It looks worse in the pictures because I started disassembling it.

So where does that leave me? Well, I was planning on upping my track time this year. It's possible the forks are bent and I was planning on doing springs and stainless brake lines this winter. If the forks are trashed it's gonna be $$$. For the same amount of money I can do a direct 04-05 GSXR 600 front end swap. At that price point for $600 I can get a complete front end! Soooo, looks like I'm in for a bit of work this winter to build a track weapon.
Remember kids, All the Gear All the Time and keep it on two wheels!
holy smokes! glad you are okay! bikes are easy to fix and chicks dig scars... hit me up if you need anything.

Plate and screws. Doc said I could keep it in a brace or surgery. I opted surgery as I have many more active years left and want optimum mobility!
