I'm lazy, so I'm just going to copy and paste from my craigslist ad. Let me know if you have any questions.
I'm selling my 2006 Pontiac GTO with 93xxx miles on it. I've owned the car for about 4 years and used it mainly for commuting and weekend trips. It's been a great car and I've done quite a bit of work on it that you won't have to do and upgraded some of the weaker OEM parts with better units where it made sense. I'm a car enthusiast and this is my fun car. I'm looking for another project build though and unfortunately only have space in my driveway for a daily and a project so... there goes the GTO.
If you know anything about these cars you know they're a little weird compared to your everyday muscle car. Built and imported from Australia, the GTO was GM's answer to the first retro styled Mustang and it unfortunately lost that battle after only 3 years of production. At the time it was considered to have the nicest interior GM ever put in a car (and many believed that for nearly ten years) and it drove well due to the Australian cousin being more of a grand tourer than a barnstorming, quartermiler. It's a relatively uncommon car that also has a certain sleeper appeal to it.
The Good:
• New Tires
• The 6.0 litre LS2 motor was recently rebuilt by a reputable local shop. I have all the paperwork of the things done to it. Still breaking the motor in, will need to be driven carefully for the next 300 miles or so.
• K&N CAI
• JBA Headers, midpipe, exhaust. It sounds like angry lightening and backfires a bit when it's cold.
• Hinson Motorsport Engine and Transmission mounts
• LS7 Clutch and Flywheel
• Hinson Motorsports Single Piece driveshaft
• BM short throw shifter
• New Radiator, thermostat, coolant and hoses
• Stainless steel braided brake lines
• New Hawk performance brake pads
• New battery
• New badges and interior pieces
• All consumables (spark plugs, sparkplug wires, ALL fluids, air filter) have been replaced in the last 2-3 months.
• New oxygen sensors
• I'm sure there's other stuff that I can't remember.
• Recently aligned.
• I don't smoke and I also have car OCD, but I'll get the car detailed before I sign it over to the new owner.
The Bad:
• Needs cosmetic TLC. It's been sitting in my garage for a bit but it's still a 12 year old car. It's got a few dents and a big paint chip on the front bumper. I'm sure a good shop can take care of 99% of this stuff but my focus has been on the mechanical side of things.
• Will need a suspension refresh at some point.
• Some interior stitching has come undone. The seats themselves are fine, just the seams have come apart, especially in the rear near the headrests. If you know anything about GTO's, this is the number one annoyance most owners have. Any decent uppholstery shop should be able to restitch for fairly cheap.
• Comes with a full size spare but it's an aftermarket rim from the previous owner.
• Will probably need a tune from a decent shop once the motor is broken in.
• Stock headunit is not the best in the world. If I was going to keep the car, I'd replace this first.
The car is inspected, drives great and the motor is healthy. The shop did a really good job at getting a little more power of it, per butt dyno. Other than that, this is a well sorted GTO that will last you quite a long time and be something a little bit different from the Camaros and Mustangs that seem to be everywhere.
Asking 12.5k OBO.
