For those who would like to go fast, MM will be taking a Trip to Eastisde Speedway in Waynesboro, Va this Saturday, March 31st. The event is called "test and tune" where you can run what you bring for $20 and you get unlimited runs. If you just want to watch everyone else go fast and have all of the fun, it's only $10. The event runs from 5-9 at the strip, so we are leaving R1 3:30-3:45.
This is NOT your average autocross. It's not even an autocross at all. So if you have a big car that isn't allowed to autocross, SEND IT down the drag strip at Eastside! There will be some fast cars there, as well as bikes for those of you who love life on two wheels. COME THROUGH. This is quite possibly the last time we will be able to attend Eastside this semester. It will be a good time!
We may be getting food after pushing our cars to the limit down the track. We're going to play that one by ear since we don't know how many people are going yet. I hope to see everyone there who wants to go fast.
Here is the link if you have never been to Eastside before and would like to know more. http://www.eastsidespeedway.biz/
Please remember long sleeved shirt, long pants, closed toe shoes and some semblance of a helmet. CASH ONLY.
Thanks for posting. Have fun!

Cool! Good to see current students kicking the tires and lighting the fires at Eastside. For anyone who hasn't been, here's a moldy oldy video of one of, if not the first MM trip to Eastside way back when
Seriously, show up in your mom's minivan, do some burnouts and hang out in the stands for hilarity
Well this is cool. Pending what I do after my track day at Summit I may stop by to watch.

I considered it. I'm expecting to be exhausted from hanging off the bike all day.
Will there be spare helmets to borrow? I might be down if I don't end up going to Charlottesville for a show.

We have a spare one that we will bring. Last time no one used a helmet unless their car was a legitimate drag car...so no one in MM needed one. But we will bring what we have.
They don't require helmets anymore? When was this?

We went last semester and I know no one in MM wore a helmet. If i remember correctly, only if you were riding a bike or had some serious horsepower, were you required to wear a helmet. I don't know if this was just luck that no one too serious was working or what...
Anyone know what their gear requirements are for bikes? Tempted to run the CBR

Just bring what you ride in.

The track in Blacksburg required leather pants if your bike was gonna go over 100 or something like that. I think a stock CBR will do mid-high 90's and mine's resprocketed for accel so might tap 100 if I do well.
Guess I'll just go and run if they let me

oh man I really want to bring the old man sedan out for a few brake launches to see what fun can be had on winter tires.
People who have been, can you get in and out for a few runs pretty quick or is it usually a decent wait in between?

People who have been, can you get in and out for a few runs pretty quick or is it usually a decent wait in between? Depends on how many people are there. Some nights it's a run every 5-10 minutes if you want. Others it's 20-30 minutes between runs. Usually the former, some times the latter.

Damn this sounds like fun, I need to test my launching in a manual car but can't make it this weekend. Take some videos and pictures so we can show up that Goodspeed guy and his VHS

People have not shown much interest in going this Saturday...being Easter weekend I can understand why. I've only heard of two people who seemed interested who could make it.
Go anyway. Make people go.
