Large difference between driving something that feels fat, unwieldy and soft (not the good kind either); and something that drives well.

The Mustang interiors of that era are just too shittastic to daily drive. I sat in a slightly newer model (2006?) at Carmax over the weekend and I couldn't get into it. Would have to have a 2011+ to be happy.

Also drove a 2005 Boxster and holy yes, I want. But I don't want the pre-05 interior and it sounds like I'd want an 08+ for reliability sake, so that'll have to be a "next-next" car.

I'm allegedly going to look at a GTO tonight. They are big mamas of cars though, longer than an E39 BMW by a few inches.

Still kinda feel like an E46 is the droid I'm looking for, but this has been a fun experience so far.

No, because the concept of spending $10k+ for a 330ci when an M3 is only a few grand more just isn't my idea of a good time... the benefit of a 330 is that it ought to be cheap, like $5k cheap.

Also, I bailed on the GTO. The thought of driving to Manassas to test drive something that looked like a bloated Cavalier, with the brand stigma of "hold my beer and watch this" killed it for me, especially after I saw a guy in a dark gray on red E46 M3 'vert on 395 as I drove home.

Edit 2: If you Google search "cars douchebags like to drive" the GTO is not represented in the lists I read, however BMW seems to make about every list. The internet comes from science, and science is never wrong. I'm not saying it, the internet is.
