I was hoodwinked by Craig and his list last week and picked up this 75 2002a. At least it was local and only 3 miles away; how I hadn't met this guy before is beyond me. Didn't run/drive, guy had it for a year and a half with intent to restore but picked up a tii a few months after he got this one, so this sat around. Someone had dumped some $ into it at one time, upgraded carb, suspension, head, exhaust, electronic ignition, etc. Got farting around with it last night for an hour after the kids were in bed and low and behold, it's alive!

That guy had a small fleet of old cars, spitfires, tr6's mg's, but that 80 RHD rover was by far my favorite.

Yeah, there was a pretty good backfire out the carb then, idk if it's timing related or fuel mix? maybe it just needs a good ol' Italian tune up.

This one isn't a keeper for me but I'm still undecided if I should revert it to stock with the parts I have left over from my car and sell those bits off separately, or leave it as is, try to get it running/driving ok and pass it on as a driving project for the next person.

Oh, forgot a big nod to Matthew for riding along and helping get the trailer and car. Always nice to have an extra set of hands ready at a moment's notice. Screw you for graduating. :finger:

Fired it up again for the second time and decided to push my luck and try a drive. After being told it hadn't moved under its own power in almost two years I didn't have high expectations. Throw it in gear and it stalls out.

Take two.
Keep brake down and revs up a bit, let off the brake and spin the back tires. (Pls ignore the fact the tires a practically plastic at this point and it was on a smooth concrete floor)

Down the driveway, around the circle and back to the garage just fine! Carb sure needs adjusting still and it's smoking like a fish, but hey, at least the transmission isn't shot!

I wish I could say the same for my flux capacitor...

It's an alert for the emissions stuff which had been removed already, hence the light.

James and Matthew came over on Friday and took the car out for a few laps in the neighborhood. It's billowing smoke out the exhaust, I don't know if it's just burning off crap from sitting so long or if there's something else going on.

Did turn a couple of quick donuts in at the end of the street, car could be a lot of fun if it gets dialed in.

Unfortunately as I was trying to console your youngest from the torment that daddy just drove away he was also simultaneously pooping on my arm while you were whippin the other turd round the culdesac, so no video of that.

If you can make sure you put it in "D" and not "3" that thing will move lol. The exhaust actually sounds really good once you're on it too.

Off to a new home in NC, but it did give me a chance to "reinvest" some funds into more goodies for lil blau. More to come on that later.
