I just hate how the car really isn't that fast for what you spend on it. If it actually had valuable performance for over $100k I'd be intrigued.

Oh no. A fast 0-60 and top speed. Watch an $85k Cayman GT4 or Z06 have just as fast or faster lap times?
rherold9 Wrote:Oh no. A fast 0-60 and top speed. Watch an $85k Cayman GT4 or Z06 have faster lap times? Yeah and how many people that buy Z06s, GT4s or F-Types for that matter actually track them regularly? IMO 'Ring times are less relevant to 99% of $100k car buyers than 0-60 / top speed virtual peen benchmarks.
And with that said I couldn't dig up a 'Ring time as a benchmark so I don't know that it's even out there yet to compare it to the others

Lols. You aren't wrong but that's my point.... I guess when you have stupid money you have stupid money... I sure as hell would HPDE the shit outta those cars if I could afford it.

Actually lots. You don't go to the track so you dont know. Z06s and GT4s are VERY popular considering their price tags. F-types, not a single one yet.
People buy F-types for their ego and luxury. (I certainly would buy one if I had stupid money). GT4s are bought by collector car people or enthusiasts. Z06s are bought by everyone.

"Lots" is subjective. If you saw a percentage of those cars purchased that actually see the track, i'm sure it would not be defined as "lots."

I use % of cars bought for the purpose of HPDE. If we use % of E30s or Miatas from TOTAL ever sold..you would also have a very very very small % and they are the single most popular track car...
Actually the GT4 with its limited production might actually have a higher % tracked than miatas or most cars in general. Hell it hasn't been out but 1/4 a year and I saw at least 5-6 or at ONE event back in November.

You don't buy a Jag to track it. You buy it for the exact thing this video shows. It's a cool car for the street and turns heads like no other. We've had one person in MM own a Jag in recent history (Not calling you out or saying this is a bad thing), but the entire process was about making it sound and look great. Which that car did extremely well.
The price is what it is because people are willing to pay that for it. There's more to the car market than Race cars and econoboxes.
Oh BTW, I am not agreeing with Ryan. Just disagreeing with what Lee is saying about GT4 owner base.
The F-type is a great car for $100k and makes awesome noises.

Ken Wrote:"Lots" is subjective. If you saw a percentage of those cars purchased that actually see the track, i'm sure it would not be defined as "lots." That was pretty much my point. I would concede your point on the GT4 especially if you back that up with hard numbers that show % of track usage by # sold, but at the "$100k car buyer demographic" my point still holds pretty true about how many of those people track those purchases.

I'm having trouble digging that sound. Way too much snap crackle and pop for my taste. Doesn't sound smooth. Sounds like there's something stuck in the exhaust flapping around, or it's a 4-banger turbo with anti-lag. Is that just the audio or does this thing really sound like that?
Maybe I'm just too 'murcian V8?

That's definitely how they sound. Uncorked and violent. Here's what my car sounded like after it was opened up a little:
