Yeah, who knew? My mom decided to give me some money because she feels bad for me, so I should be able to snag a regulator and a ball joint and do it myself.

Yeah I had my old E30 fail because of the window. The law makes sense. I would also check out this guy.

I talked with him back when I had my Miata and he was super helpful and had good pricing. He's located near Durham so shipping shouldn't be that bad. I'm sure he has any part that you're looking for.

Driver's window must roll up and down fully to pass inspection. The other(s) can be jacked up with no issues.

Parts have been ordered. Got the LBJ today.


Was driving home last night and I hit a bump and the radio went out. It came right back on. Kept driving, then the radio went out again and stayed out. A few seconds later the airbag light flashed three times (bad circuit), then my alternator light would come on dimly and fade out and my headlights started to fade. I got it home and parked her. I'm hoping it the battery terminals not getting a good connection as the negative has never been able to really be tight on there and you could pull it off with your hand.

It drained the battery overnight (new battery) and I jumped it today after shimming the terminal with some aluminum foil (like it was when I bought it) and it worked. Got down the road and the same symptoms came back and the car almost stalled. Got it back in the driveway and it immediately switched back to acting normal and the radio came back on....

Definitely sounds like a bad ground, should be an easy if time consuming fix. You might need to replace that battery terminal clamp, and you should check the rest of the grounds in the car.

I lol'd. Shouldn't be a hard fix (compared to what you've done already). I just have a huge hate for electrical anything.

I'm still fine with the purchase. I'll get the battey tested tomorrow to make sure a cell isn't bad. If it is fine, I'll start hunting for grounding issues. If I jump the car it runs fine. Until I hit a bump or turn on the headlights. I have tomorrow off so I'll mess around with it.

Found a rusty razor blade shimmed under the engine ground block under the brake booster. It's too wet outside for me to fiddle with it, but I'll try to get the block off, clean it, and get it back on the body well when it's dry.

First thing he told me was that he used to be a used car salesmen. That was after his pit bull almost ate me.

Only problem is that the bolt is under the brake booster FOR NO REASON. I have it soaking in liquid wrench. I'll take a few swings at it tomorrow. Should be an easy fix if I can get it off.

Both my LBJ and the window regulator are in. So I have all of the parts I need. I got a $20 driveworks LBJ, so I hope my wheel doesn't go flying off. I'm going to try to do the LBJ without ball joint tools, so wish me luck.

You can rent a pickle fork and the ball joint press kit at autozone for free. Just put down a deposit...

Checked prices on it. It's over $100 to rent them. I'd get that money back, but I don't have it to spend in the first place. I'll be okay.

You're going to regret not getting that tool. Harbor Freight has them for 15 bucks or something like that IIRC.

The separator, which is easily replaced with a big ass hammer, is cheap. The actual press is always near $100. I'll make something out of a C-clamp or something.

Did you order your stuff from autozone or something? How the hell did you get that so fast.

I had no idea what the heck an LBJ was either. You mentioned C-Clamp. This is what google showed me when i searched lower ball joint.
