M-mode is like a religious experience. When I drove Trevor's E90 M3, I switched over to M-mode and stepped out like Confusedhock:

There are plenty of pretty wheels (see: Apex, BBS, other OEM) that are silver and/or gunmetal. Assuming your plans include "buying different wheels" and not "applying Plastidip to what's on the car" you can pay the same regardless of finish

Seriously, no black wheels.

I hate that you picked this up. A great set of light wheels in very easy fitment is Apex EC-7s or PS7s. Get it in the 18x9/18x10R flavor (19x9/19x10 was stock ZCP sizes). It won't be SCCA FS legal though since its an 09 and ZCP wasn't legal till 2011. However, an exhaust/sway bar modification and good tires, the E90/E92 M3 is VERY competitive in SCCA FS. (FS is now Fstreet which means street tires and +1 -1 for wheel sizes) So if your car came with 19x8.5/19x9.5 you can run 18x8.5/18x9.5 legal in FS.

They also have stock muffler mods that make the car sound excellent. Akro is expensive but gorgeous. Have a blackstone analysis done as they "can" have main bearing issues. At 5 years old, I would think it would be already a foregone conclusion. The differential is a giant leap in advance over the E46 M3.

Very nice pickup G!!!!!!! Will the new M3 be the "new" "new car to have?"

It barely even needs a brake pedal! It's much like driving a bumper car.
Yeah that thing decelerates like it dropped anchor when you let off the throttle. Definitely takes a lot of getting used to.

righteous score G, they are truly special cars. i think of those cars as kings when it comes to grand touring, but with a little extra athleticism. do you miss the cayman at all or is this thing way better as an overall experience?

i made the mistake of listening to an aftermarket exhaust sountrack on youtube. that engine wants to crush skulls

Love it, G! Nice to see there's another person who will fly out to Ohio at the drop of a hat to pick up an M3 - I really enjoyed the drive back. Well done on the sedan over the coupe, too. I've still never gotten a ride in a V8 M.

I've started looking into these things as 4 door fun cars, and there's not a whole lot of downside to this chassis. Rod bearing issues seem to pop up slightly more than should be acceptable (on the sister S85, too), but I'm hoping that's just internet hype, + my hypersensitivity/disbelief that BMW would let yet another known issue creep over to a followup generation.

Add me to the No Black Wheels contingent.

I for one like black wheels...not on everything, but they can look really good on certain cars. I think black on that blue would look pretty awesome.
