Miata as first car? Suggestions?

Feelings not hurt. Just saying, "bad luck" and "was 100% lied to about the origin of the second motor" are two different things. Turns out it was a quality-unknown junkyard pull that had a bad crankshaft - I was told it came out of a customer's car and only had 60k miles on it. The CELs and overheating all came from that. The motor lasted 2k miles and died as Packer pulled it in to Delta V after he bought it.

you should definitely stress the 'downhill' part in your defense. 'Your Honor, I had the cruise set at 100, but you know how gravity be.'

Nope, was $700 down the drain and the people who sold it to me all denied the story. And it's sad, because the shop builds cars that come to NASA events and was a go-to recommendation if people in Virginia Beach needed their car worked on. Now, not so much.

Good to hear! My insurance was already super cheap! Good thing money hasn't been an issue for me at all lately! I'm happy this is all happening. It's a good thing.

Anyone looking for a project? I bought it as a stalled spec Miata project, I was going to cut the windshield off, add a wide body, cage it and make a prepared car..... I've made exactly no progress on it and need to start getting rid of some things, I barely have time to race my Spec Miata, let alone get another car together...... It's a 1.6, solid body, full striped interior (except for steering column, dash and drivers seat). Motor cranks then cuts off. Needs an idle control valve. Tokico shocks and lowering springs, includes a spare head. I think I paid $1000 for it. Make me an offer....
