That's a mortgage payment around here. After next year, I may say Peace to my housemates and find somewhere cheaper. i'd rather have $200 a month to spend on my truck/car than have somewhere marginally better than the others to live in.

Weird. Do you know any other people with 3bedrooms and if they pay the same rate? I've heard a few people report awkward pricing between the same bedroom townhouses there. And some poor child thought water/electric was included with Copper's rent, its not.

Nope. 520 seems to be the same for all 3 people houses in Copper. This is including the utilities. It's like 470 originally, then add in utilities and furnishing.

Ah, yeah. $470 makes plenty sense. Electric fluctuates, our last one was $145 (ouch) but we've also been as low as $70 (yay) in the fall when we turned the AC/heat off for weeks! Our water is pretty much always the same. I have 2 roommates too...just to give you some estimates.

Lol no, it varies. Just to be sure though, look on your lease, if it says $470 then thats all you pay Copper, if it says $520 then i guess its included. If not, you set up an account with HEC and water company and pay them separately. Before you do that though, set a UDAP with jmu so you don't have to pay the $300 deposit for electric and whatever the deposit is for water. If for whatever reason you forget to pay the bill jmu will pay it for you and then you owe the univ. that money. Dude utilities cannot ever be the same for every house every month. Not everyone uses the same amount of water and keeps the heat or ac at he same temp. The water is pretty constant as long as you guys aren't taking 5 showers a day each. Electricity fluctuates depending on time of the year. I've seen electricity bills at my house in copper anywhere between $100-$200 (200 last month when it was cold as fawk).

Initial buy-in for a clean, cared-for one will be similar. Parts are cheaper for the Mazda - rotors are like $17 vs. $30, for example. Only uses 4 qts of oil versus 7. Things like that will make the Miata cheaper. That said, running costs of either one are pretty close. A cared-for 325i or 328i that's had maintenance done (so you don't get stuck right away doing steering and suspension bits) will be pretty easy to own.

I'd say they're both pretty similar in "easy to work on" scale, too. See which one you fit better in. Now that I've sold my NA, I don't think I could (or would) go back to owning another one. Just too small for my tall self to feel safe.

Between those two, I'd go "well cared for Miata".

it'll be more fun, cheaper to maintain, and it'll teach you more in the long run on the racetrack.
