My warranty on my 08 Touareg is up in 400 miles. I definitely want to renew it with the big engine, turbos, and air suspension. I called VW and spoke to a friend of mine, and was quoted $5,000 for an extra 6 years and up to 120,000 miles.
Maybe I was way off, but i was thinking/hoping for ~2500 bucks. Any input or advice from anyone?

Pfft, warranty? What is this nonsense you speak of
Now:
'16 Ram 1500 | '97 BMW M3 | Some Press Loan
Then:
87 BMW 325e | 91 BMW 535i | 96 BMW 328i | 95 BMW 325i | 95 Mazda Miata | 13 Focus ST | 09 BMW 128i | 00 Pontiac Firebird | 05 Yukon Denali | 96 BMW 328iC | 11 Ford F-150 | 06 BMW M3 | 10 Range Rover SC | '03 Ford Ranger | '18 Ford F-150 | '01 BMW X5 | '98 Volvo S70 T5M
Shop around, different dealers will have different prices.

its a VW, what could possibly go wrong?
^ Just make sure the CEL fluid is topped off and should be good to go? :dunno:
I know nothing of the Toureg, and especially nothing about the v10 diesel and its fancy suspension, but are you really expecting to have to put $5000 (or whatever you can get a quote for) into it before it hits 120,000 miles? How many are on it now?
Usually when people ask if they should buy a warranty I immediately scoff and tell them to take the same amount of money they were about to fork over for a warranty, put it in a CD for a few years and if something catastrophic and "warranty worthy" happens, pull the money out and use it for the repair.
Now: 07 Porsche Cayman S | 18 VW Tiguan
Then: 18 VW GTI Autobahn | 95 BMW M3 | 15 VW GTI SE | 12 Kia Optima SX | 2009 VW GTI | 00 BMW 540i Sport | 90 Mazda Miata | 94 Yamaha FZR600R | 1993 Suzuki GS500E | 2003 BMW 325i | 95 Saab 900S
There is a lot of markup and money to be made by the dealer with those warranties. I know when I worked at the dealership if a warranty cost us $900 we charged about $2200 for it. You've got some room to haggle with them on the price.

6 years and 120,000 miles, which leads me to believe that the amount of mileage on the car now is irrelevant?? idk depends on how you read into it I guess.
If you can haggle that down a bit, seems like a good idea to me for some piece of mind, especially in a VW.

Haggle a bit but take it. Air Suspension on VW? $800 bucks a corner, in 120,000 miles they will definitely be blown. Possibly air compressor to go, turbos, V10, AWD, VW in general. I would buy it if I were you.

DJ's comment reminds me of something, make sure you get a complete copy of exactly which warranty you are buying and exactly what is covered under the warranty. We sold everything from bronze to platinum levels on all models we sold. Some cover internal drivetrain only, some are bumper to bumper but don't cover major wear items and some cover basically everything. Make sure you get one that covers your high dollar items. Engine and drivetrain /= expensive air suspension is covered.

The car has 49600 miles on it. I am just concerned about the electrical, engine/transmission, and air suspension. I have had it warrantied for numerous things because I have it. In most other cases I probably would have just dealt with the little nuances.
The quote I reached was "friends and family" discount, VW springfield, sterling, and tysons, all quoted me 8000.
I love the car, but have no clue what to do. sell and buy something cheaper? I don't want to leave my SUV and every other SUV out there is 40k+ for the ones I want.

If the person who engineered your car wants 8K to cover it for the next 6 years, let that be a clue.

Paul cant drive anything 'uncivilized', like a Honda Pilot
I would still call around for warranty costs.
