Kaan Wrote:if mikey got the car to handle without swaybars, dont bother hunting down a set without really driving it. No offense to Justin or Mikey, but it needs stiffer springs asap and a decent alignment. The car was literally wallowing when I drove it. The bushings and ball joints felt tight from sitting for a decent amount of time (they will loosen hopefully), but the shocks almost felt as if they were blown, especially the front right corner. You got a good deal on the car, why not just get the Konis rebuilt, and go with much higher spring rates instead of doing this twice? Itll cost you all of 8-900 dollars to do the shocks and new springs. That way you dont have to worry about compromising, and you can get it all done at once. Springs/shocks, a good cleaning, and some good rubber and that thing should be an absolute blast. Navin's civic was hella fun around summit and felt real good to drive, and it was cause of the suspension.

think i was 600/700... in lbs. not on those shocks, obviously.
those shocks are brand new. i would sell them and the brand new STREET springs and pick up something more race-oriented. i only put that stuff on because i got it for a good deal and was going to sell it as a street car. so... uh... no offense taken

Cause I dont have $1k to just drop on a suspension
07-13-2011, 10:54 AM
you could get $650+ for what's on the car. makes $1k a lot cheaper.

JustinG Wrote:Cause I dont have $1k to just drop on a suspension Then leave the shocks alone and put reasonable spring rates on them. For a car driven to the track, using street tires, you dont need anything stiffer than 500 lbs.

i'd go 450/500.

Next question, front passenger has some crazy sag going on, pulled the wheel and the suspension looks to be ok. Thoughts? Its literally tucking the front passenger wheel, sitting still. Anything I should look for? Or just blame it on a shitty install by the previous owner?

it sat in a lot after install for a long time... in the same position. could just be that that spring has settled and the others haven't.

so i was worried about the paint, I know its a track car but I cant keep my inner ricer at bay, and i want it to at least be shiny and not turn your butt white when you lean against it. So thanks to Dan for giving me some tips, and also just so happened Casey's dad was here this afternoon and mentioned that its a single stage paint, which is why it turned my wash bucket water white, ie no clear coat only paint.
So apparently its not recommended to clay bar single stage, it was sticking to the paint even when soaked, so using some mequiars cleaner/polish/wax it turned one corner of the car back to the glossy white it should be. So for now it wont be painted od green/flat tan, although these looks pretty pimp IMO.....

I like the green...

I thought the paint looked decent on Mikey's car
hrug:DJ - VIR in July in the hatch, eff that noise. Too hot/far for a car with no AC. If you are offering free tows, then I'm game

navin Wrote:I thought the paint looked decent on Mikey's car Well it wasnt looking too hot when i got it, so i started looking into flat paint jobs, but with some TLC im bringing the paint back to life, so no flat paint jobs in the near future.

the paint is definitely pretty good for being 19 years old. the car hasn't been washed in... an f'ing long time. some elbow grease should bring it back pretty well.
