New MM Apparel Designs
#1
I had a few ideas for some new hoodies so I decided to finally put some of them to Illustrator so maybe some of them could get made. One of my first concepts is a wrench-nut plaid pattern for a zip-up hoody:

I've got a bit of fine tuning to do in order to get the look right but this is the general idea. If the general idea is something a few people like (maybe about a dozen) then we can probably get it made.

I have another idea or two that I can whip up fairly quickly that I'll post in a few days.

I know exactly what you mean. The wrenches look a little bit softer/rounder than they should so the effect is a little bit different than what I originally sketched out. I think I'll make the heads of the wrenches a little more angular.

Maybe "MM" in the middle of the wrench? Or is that too loud?

I'm not interested either way, because I think that style (not necessarily that particular design) is butt ugly.

I like it, we could use a little more real style in these shirts and sweatshirts. At least for the apparel. I love that we went to whatever color for stitching for the sweatshirts.

G, definitely would be up for your suggestions to add some flair to the apparel, would make it more appropriate to wear in social situations.

I like the concept. Definitely would be nice to have something more detailed than just all black with a little yellow "MM" like we have in the past.

If you get something whipped up in the next month, we can do an order at the very start of the spring semester in January. That way we'll get current students included with alumni on the order.
Now:
'16 Ram 1500 | '97 BMW M3 | Some Press Loan

Then:
87 BMW 325e | 91 BMW 535i | 96 BMW 328i | 95 BMW 325i | 95 Mazda Miata | 13 Focus ST | 09 BMW 128i | 00 Pontiac Firebird | 05 Yukon Denali | 96 BMW 328iC | 11 Ford F-150 | 06 BMW M3 | 10 Range Rover SC | '03 Ford Ranger | '18 Ford F-150 | '01 BMW X5 | '98 Volvo S70 T5M

^^ I feel bad because it has been my responsibility to work out our apparel order and I have fallen far behind on it. Along with all the studying and work to these next two weeks I will have this worked out with SOS advertising so I can start taking orders over break so we can hopefully have them when we come back from holiday. BTW interesting design G. Maybe we can work something out to have these done up...

I like the effort, but I'm with Rex, not my style. For some reason it reminds me of what Ludacris would've worn in 2F2F to match his Vuitton truck

Though definitely interested in more creative designs. I think something like this would be badass (from IMV/International Motorsports from U. of Florida)

Thanks for doing this though, show us more!

^^That IMV shirt looks like something I'd buy at k-mart for a 9 year old to wear. I like the idea of a more grown up/sportier look. I know at one point I looked into light jackets with MM on the front shoulder and across the back but the idea never took off. That is something I would love to have. Light jackets, hoodies, maybe even a long-sleeve button up style shirt could be cool.

did anyone else have a really f'ing hard time seeing the wrenches at first?

not gonna be a lot of people's style, but he's only looking for a few heads to make an order feasible.

Agree on the K-mart look. I was just wishing for some more style. Like white or black long-sleeve shirts with MM down the sleeve with it spelled out under the two big MMs, and then the MM on the chest like the sweaters with a "you know your in MM" on the back or something? I would wear that at all events, but to me personally the MM t-shirts right now...I dont wear and am not big fan. But it comes free so its a good shirt for that, just on this order a long-sleeve I would order 2 of, and am sure I could ge ta few people to order. And then the sweatshirt just with the MM sleeve and MM chest like described above, but with no "you know your in MM" on the back.

Yeah I think some new t-shirt designs are in order, I'm just doing some hoody concepts now because it's cold outside and my old MM hoodies are pretty worn out. After I'm happy with at least one hoody design I'll probably do some new t-shirt concepts. I should at least be able to get one or two more hoody concepts done this week, as well as improve on the current one.

I think some windbreakers would be really cool but the problem with those is that they get really pricey fast. There is some cool stuff we can do with stitched on piping on the shoulders and what not but then you'll be getting up towards $40-50 or more. I guess we can look into and see what we can do.

40-50 bucks is no big deal.....the fleeces we did were like 45. Don't like the price, don't buy it. I'm def down for having some higher quality products at an extra cost. Nicer quality polos for instance. When I dod the order there was a shit ton of stuff to be had. Ill try and dig up that thread.

Ok, it turns out that trying to do a cut and sew design (basically a hoodie that is disassembled, screenprinted, then sewn back together) for our hoodie would be cost prohibitive anyway (as in $100-150). I've got some other ideas that shouldn't cost us quite as much...

+2 on the kmart look. I do like the idea of the sweatshirt, but like everyone has said, it was hard to distinguish the wrench and nut. maybe just a sleeve or quarter sleeve would be a little less "butt ugly." and i like dj's idea of the longsleeve with mm down the sleeve...
