Mostly cosmetic, gets rid of the realllllly aggressive rake from front to back (makes the fender gap the same between the front and rear wheels) without putting stress on suspension & drivetrain components like a lot of lift kits do. It brings the front up anywhere from 1.25 - 2" depending on the kit and gives you a little more front bumper clearance. I haven't removed my air dam like some have and likely won't, and believe it or not I have scraped on some high parking blocks / curbs. This would bring the front up just enough so I won't have to worry about that ever.

The Zone 1.25" spacer leaves a tiny bit of rake for if I ever tow or haul a payload but gives all of the above benefits. And it's only like $50.

I figured it was just looks. Do you're compromising fuel mileage just to have the truck look level?

Not necessarily, most people on the forums with a leveling kit haven't reported a difference in fuel mileage. It's when you put bigger tires on etc that it starts to really be impacted

It is kind of funny when I leave my air bags pumped up after disconnecting the trailer. MOAR RAKE (As I stare at the ground, okay maybe its not that dramatic).

Not much to report here, truck still rumbling on like a tank. I took it in to the dealership at just under 7k miles today for a HVAC system recall and to get it updated to the latest ECM/TCM tuning to help fix some occasional low rpm chugging. The update seems to have helped a little but we will see what happens once it "relearns". I feel like these updates are just postponing the inevitable aftermarket tune, it seems to be mandatory on pretty any newish GM vehicle to tune it to make it not drive gutless / wonky.

We took the truck up to a funeral in NOVA this weekend because SiriusXM got reactivated for free for three months. It really is an awesome road trip vehicle. I averaged a little over 20mpg for the entire round trip, which included some city / low speed driving and a MASSIVE headwind we had to drive into for a few hours on the way home yesterday that really watered down the fuel efficiency. For a not little truck that's pretty incredible. It parks mostly like a large car in tight areas like we ran into in historic Shephardstown. The lighting setup is fantastic for highway driving, I was able to spot two separate groups of deer with the added sideways throw of the foglights. My big complaint at the beginning of ownership was the seat being uncomfy for longer drives but it seems to have "broken in" and I didn't have any butt or leg issues after 6+ hours in it. Granted it's not as comfy as the big ole captains chairs in Sierras or anything but they are just fine. We fit a ton of luggage in the back seat and I think with a good tonneau cover this thing will be the preferred vehicle of choice for our road trips.

Not much has changed on the eventual mod list but I don't think I really need to do much to this to enjoy it for a while. In no particular order:
- Tune
- Leveling kit
- Remove air dam
- Powdercoat wheels (maybe)
- Tonneau
- OEM subwoofer
- NEEDS a good detail / opticoat

Just over 12k miles, still love this dang truck. Everybody (especially down south) always says you need a big azz truck to do proper truck things but it's just not true. This thing is the perfect combo of size, power, fuel efficiency and urban maneuverability. If I was working in construction again or towed anything >7,000lbs. ever I'd probably want a full size but otherwise I am convinced it's just not necessary. And it fits in my garage during those random southern hail storms. How bow dah.

Finally pulled the trigger on a good tonneau cover just in time for an upcoming beach trip (so I don't have to load up the cabin with stuff). Found a really awesome dealer via the Colorado / Canyon forums who hooked me up with the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 for $750 shipped (usually MSRP $1030, mfgr site sale right now at $891.45).

Man first the XD-S rebate and now this one! Killing the unintended rebate game lately!

The Solid Fold 2.0 fits like a glove. One of the plastic clips that holds the straps in the open position arrived broken but Extang's customer service was excellent...they sent me a replacement 2 day mail as well as a long piece of thick weatherstripping to help it seal up the gap between the plastic bed rail covers and bed near the cabin. Super easy to install, took me all of 10 minutes but could do it in half that now that I know where the clamps should go.





I took it through a touchless car wash today to see how water tight it is. There are definitely a few spots I could "shore up" with some of the weatherstripping I had left over where water was seeping in and a pool in the middle of the bed that frankly I'm not sure how it got there. This particular car wash had nozzles that shot from like every angle and is super strong so I'll give the cover the benefit of the doubt until I go through some normal rain storms. Good look to it though, super sturdy (I could probably stand on those panels) and now this thing has a lot more utility on our road trips

The Elight showed up and it's awesome, except they didn't provide a home DC charger just a cigarette lighter plug in for the truck...pretty inconvenient but fortunately I happened to have another similar charger laying around. Will install that when it cools off a little.

The HID light on the passenger side has intermittently taken longer to fire up than the driver side as of the last two weeks or so. I reached out to TRS who asked me to swap all components to either side so we can test what is wrong. The only TRS component I have right now is the bulbs, so I finally got around to swapping the bulbs this morning (total PITA on the passenger's side because for some reason GMC covered that whole area with overlapping plastic panels). The problem unfortunately did not follow with the bulb swap meaning it's probably a problem with the ballast or igniters. The guy who did the work for me sold his shop and is working at another local truck-specific outfitting shop. I've got a note out to him to see if he still does lighting work, otherwise not sure what my plan B is going to be. It's probably a matter of time before that side stops working altogether.

Why not just buy a new ballast... they are less than $20. Keep a spare in the trunk if the cheap ones worry you.

I have 40k miles on my cheap DDM tuning bulbs/ballasts... no issues to report.

The problem is I don't know exactly what brand he used, would like to keep it all the same/same.

Fortunately he said to swing by the new shop he works at, he can troubleshoot and replace. We all good! :thumbup:
