That sucks Goodspeed! IS300s just aren't meant for MM. Lee's got trashed, yours got wrecked, and we just traded Sam's last week because it continued to eat brakes. If it is totaled, buy another RX7 as your daily driver!

Man, sorry to see Always liked the IS300. Hopefully it can be fixed, but if not, we already chose the Ridgeline or CX5 for you.

Bummer man, glad you're ok! I hope it can be salvaged but i'd probably be cautious too, that's a pretty good whack to the quarter panel.

glad you're OK buddy, but that is a huge blower. seeing another silver car all smashed in the back is giving me flashbacks. such a shame, its SO hard to come across a well done, minty IS.
if that quarter panel is buckled, i'd put some pretty strong odds on "totaled". sure hope not, but my 2.5RS was an easy $6k to repair and that was not nearly as hard a hit.
i hope that lady's super important need to look at her phone was worth the huge bomb her insurance company is going to be dropping on her in the form of rate hikes...

Thanks for the support guys. Part of me knows that the car would never be "right" again, and perhaps compromised in the event of another possible future accident, so who knows. Safe to say I'll be pretty diminished if this one goes to the big Lexus farm in the sky.
If that's the case, I dont' really see myself buying new, and if the Chevy Cruze I'm currently in is any indication of what I can expect out of a mid-level affordable car these days visibility and ergonomics wise, no thanks. I just don't have the heart to spend money on a moribund appliance. Can one of you guys shake the V8 4Runner tree and see if another one falls out? Or maybe a clean NB2 or NC Miata or '06-'07 WRX. Or a TL Type S? I hate having to do this.

A great idea, fully support this one. That is one of the cars I have owned that I really do miss

Yeah, I love those cars. So classy.
6-speed, LSD, Brembos.... I've had thoughts.
Now that you've found your niche, enthusiast owned, hard to find car, you're on the right track!

$12,900 for 160k.. Dude, I paid like $17k for mine. They're bananas right now.
Goodspeed, you can drive mine if you want to get a feel, but good luck finding one for a decent price going into winter.
I say you buy the car back and swap the motor into something. I'm glad you're okay, though! This really sucks.

Sorry to see the mess Goody, but glad you made it out ok. I'm sure Rex has already talked to you but don't sign off on any medical stuff for a bit until you see how you feel in a week or so.
did all the type s have an lsd or was that an option? Wasn't the Lexus an auto? Do you want a 6 speed in the TL for a commuter car?
All the ones I've seen are coming up on 100k miles.

Thanks for the links Dave - yep, the IS was an auto, and in all likelihood if it's a 4dr. sedan I end up in again, it'll probably be an auto. TBH, I'm pretty tempted to just pick up another IS - for the prices of some of these TLs I could get a *really* nice one with lower miles, if I can find one. That first Type-S is gorgeous however, I love that color.
Taylor/Tyler - thanks for the 4Runner motivations. I'll have to see what comes of insurance before I know whether or not I could swing one. With the arrival of the FD this wasn't the best possible time financially to have my DD smashed up
Speaking of, the car landed yesterday at Safford Collision in Tyson's (which, interestingly enough, is part of the Alfa Romeo/Fiat dealership) so I should be getting a call today to meet with them to go over it partially-disassembled and to discuss its fate.
Pontiac G8 GT. Then, when you get bored of the G8 as a daily, you already have the LS1 drivetrain for your RX7. Its foolproof
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.
