This a good idea. Wire this inline with the starter relay. donezo.

Interesting idea, but I'm pretty obsessive about having as few things on my key chain as possible. Carrying a badge around all day for work is bad enough, I can't imagine having one on my key chain.

Now converting it to a keyless system would be a sweet idea. Of course, I'd still need a key to get in the car because there is no power anything.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

A coworker bought aftermarket power lock and proximity/keyless system for his vintage truck restomod project.

not cheap though, I think he paid close to 1k for everything, but he is the type that talks to a salesman and ends up paying over retail.

$580 for the MOMO, QR and hub from OG with discount. I should buy it 'cause I just got a decent raise, but I'm having trouble justifying the cost. I didn't realize a decent QR was that expensive. I guess that's what happens when you buy your race car already sorted.

Sparco. I'm not tied to brand, it's just what OG prefers to sell and I can get a discount there.

The Sparco QR is an incredibly solid piece. Its actually made for Sparco by Lifeline in the UK - its the same piece you'll find in all manner of touring/formula cars. Just be mindful of spacing, combined with the hub adapter your wheel will be coming out at you, well beyond stock.

Did you look at this piece as well?

The owner of OG is an old 911 nut and had these made by I-forget-who but they're solid pieces as well. You almost have the reverse problem however as these are narrow-enough to work best with slightly dished wheels, to avoid contacting any control stalks etc.

Any idea how much the QR + Prototipo comes out beyond stock? I'm okay with lengthening things, but I'll probably want to get the seat rails moved at the same time because everything is pretty close as it is.

I definitely can't go any shorter than stock because the top of the wheel is no more than 2" from the dash.

I'm not sure about the Momo wheel, but I know Sparco wheels come with dishes/depths of 36mm (hardly any, like stock), 63mm or 90mm. My rule of thumb was that most wheels with 36mm or less dish could/would have issues with the OG QR.

stupid.

Ive heard of ones that are hydraulically preloaded to elminate play that are even more than that.

I never even felt the need to have one in my SM.

I pulled the trigger on the whole shebang. I was going to opt out of the QR but then wondered if the wheel became a theft risk. There's been a decent amount of smash and grabs around lately, so I went for it. I'm certain I'm over-thinking it, but that's what I do when it comes to spending anything more than $50.

Finally got the wheel, QR and hub. I'm lazy, so I'll probably have a shop around here install it and re-drill my seat rails while they're at it. Before and after pics to come.
