X2^^ It's a KA24DE... Some people build turbo's around the DOHC KA and even more rare is to see people build turbo up around the SOHC CA18... But yes like Blair said it definitely needs at least a SR20(Red or Black Top) to make it worth a damn.. however to see an RB26DETT swaped in would be ridunculous!!

I got a ride in a KA-T 240 at Verona years ago and it kinda made me really want one as a neat project before I had the Supra. Still an idea I might get to one day, I think it has its merits.

I wouldn't go so far as to say a KA in a 510 is a junk swap. It's readily available, reliable, and is a well-documented swap for that car b/c a lot of 510 owners like to stay NA. Sure, an SR will have the exact same mounting points and therefore would be extremely easy on that car (just like doing it on a 240), but I felt that my stock KA motivates my 240sx pretty well and I would venture to say that it was a significant upgrade on a 510 considering it's lightness and the stock 510 engine. From what I remember, there has been a movement in recent years with people starting to embrace the KA and upgrading it instead of going SR, so perhaps that was the reasoning for him to go that route.
An RB26 in the front of that car will turn a tidy engine bay into a cluttered, cramped clusterfuck that is totally unneccessary in my opinion.

Well "swap" may be misleading. For one, like almost all SC300's it was auto to begin with, and it has the A340E auto mated to the GTE that is also mated to the GE, though they have some differences:
