Natos are fine, but will get gross if you arent taking it off when working/sweating
But the Barton Elites are nice natos.

I've got a citizen nighthawk I'd part with, although I don't know if the crystal is sapphire, glass, lexan, or whatever. Says it's rated for 20Bar, so you know it parties.

Pulling out all my watches, need to replace batteries on a Seiko Coutura and a Buluva Marine Star. Suggestions on DIY or just taking it to local watch shop?

You'll probably spend $15 on tools to get what you need to remove casebacks, then batteries can be had for really cheap on Amazon, just need to take stock of what you need.
Or wait until the first NASA event, bring your watches with you, and I'll do it at the track.

Buy a watch tool kit off Amazon that has case back tools and do the same for the batteries you'll need.

I daily wear a Nighthawk that Lee upgraded to sapphire crystal. I have a dozen other watches, but I wear this one 95% of the time. The only time I have to mess with it is DST and when there aren't 31 days in the month. I don't work on cars, but it's been around the world with a young kid in tow and I haven't had any issues or scratches. YMMV.

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

Love that you are putting that thing through its paces and it's seeing the world like it was meant to
FYI: I just bought our top sales rep that exact Nighthawk to say thanks for single handedly helping us hit our stretch sales goal last year. He loves it as far as I know.

Yeah why not?
That nighthawk unfortunately isn't what I am going for right now. I am loving the Citizen Promaster SST, but finding one in my price range is going to prove to be tough.

That’s got a titanium case so it’ll wear really light, plus all the other features you want, solar power, radio controlled so you never have to set it, 200m water resistance so you can swim with it.
Looking for fun stuff with a “no winding, no battery changing” movement is a bit like wanting a hand built sports car that functions like a Toyota. Not saying it can’t be done, but 99% of the micro/alternative brands are going to use either a mechanical or standard quartz movement.
Also, fun means a big flashy Hublot to some and faux-vintage to others so we can pretend we’re Paul Newman. If you post photos of some fun stuff you like it helps us nerds get a feel for your tastes and find actual recommendations. There are like a thousand brands out there all doing slightly different things.

Have you ever used NYCWatchStore?
Really liking this previous model year Promaster SST. I know it sounds silly but the stopwatch and alarm feature seems pretty useful to me.

My Nighthawk and Seiko 5 auto diver see 85% of my watch wear and I love them both. The Nighthawk has been flawless and gets compliments all the time. The Seiko is also really nice but it has stopped despite being wound on 2 or 3 occasions over the last 3 years and required a slap to get it running again.

These guys are bad for your wallet. But I will say, after buying/selling a few I have pretty much broke even.
I have been wanting to do a full mod on an SKX, pretty much gut a case and replace everything.
Well Lee won a drawing and got his hands on a SKX Japanese model. Fit and Finish are supposed to be better on those. With no real need for it he offered it up to me in a trade for a box of Front Point Camera/Screens/sensors I had yanked from our house.
With the base in hand, then came the rabbit hole of parts and waiting for them to arrive. Parts were ordered from all over the place. UK, China (Pre Corona), Spain, Poland, and throw in Texas and California. Not 100% sure how long I waited on parts to arrive, but the longest wait was on my Custom Case back. I could have kept some factory parts like the movement, the crown, crystal, day/date wheels etc. But I ended up going full bore on this one, new movement included. Nothing is left of the original watch but the case itself.
If it isn't obvious yet, my goal was to make a JMU themed mod. Even the crystal has a purple anti reflective coating.
A quick 7 day round trip to Rhode Island and the finished product came back in today.
Couldn't be happier.
The more I look at this thing the more I love it. I'm contemplating ditching the Apple watch for a while and getting some kind of daily driver watch. I might have to join this watch chat you all have...
