Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - G.Irish - 12-15-2016 I don't know how to move posts, maybe one of the other admins can truck some of the Guilty Pleasures watch posts over here. A watch brand I've kinda had my eye for awhile in the $1000 range is Hamilton (not throwing away my shot). Their aviation chronographs look pretty handsome and they a couple of other cool chronographs that aren't too gaudy. Too bad they don't have them on Eleven James so I could try some out. http://www.hamiltonwatch.com ![]()
Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - SlimKlim - 12-15-2016 We could just start fresh and leave the old posts over there. :dunno: Another interesting new American brand is Hawthorne. They haven't launched but are doing a pre-launch sweepstakes sort of thing. If you guys sign up with this link I get entered for a chance to win a freebie. http://prelaunch.hawthornwatchco.com/?p ... e23d3633b3They are going after a similar price point to the Undone watches we were nerding out over in the other thread but have a more minimalist style. They did an AMA in /r/watches, the album of design sketches is pretty neat to look through: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/commen ... ch_co_and/ Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - WRXtranceformed - 12-15-2016   Love the thread title G: Love the Hamiltons and have always been intrigued by them. They carry a lot of respect in the enthusiast world I know and there are a ton of great looking styles. It is killing me not being able to wear this new Deep Blue I picked up for Christmas!!!!!!!!! Edit: I will also point out that Jomashop is having its Christmas sale and Hamiltons are 40% off: http://www.jomashop.com/hamilton-doorbuster-event.html Just saying! Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - SlimKlim - 12-15-2016 I'm trying the green band on my Orient today. I sort of like it, but it also might be a little too tacti-cool for me. ![]() *insertusernamehere* Wrote:This. That looked like a great combo! SlimKlim Wrote:I'm trying the green band on my Orient today. I sort of like it, but it also might be a little too tacti-cool for me. Oh my photo washed out that strap, its more a green color that matches the dial almost exactly. Nice grab with that Stowa btw! I forgot to reply when you first posted it. Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - WRXtranceformed - 12-15-2016 Also if you like affordable pilot-style watches with sapphire / decent movements check out Air Blue. Spin-off company from Deep Blue, same place I scooped this Navitimer-style homage: ![]() (this was my cheap way to figure out if the Blue Sky will be a watch I can live with someday. Judging from the wrist time this one gets, I think it will be) https://www.airbluewatches.com/ I'm part of their mailing list and it looks like they are having deep discounts and actually giving away two free bands with purchases this weekend Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Ken - 12-15-2016 WRXtranceformed Wrote:Also if you like affordable pilot-style watches with sapphire / decent movements check out Air Blue. Can't seem to find it.I think they sold out shortly after I got mine and I haven't seen them back on the site since. Another possibility is they could have gotten into a problem with the design patent and can't make anymore. It's doubtful, but it's so similar to the Navitimer design that is Breitling's hallmark along with Sinn who purchased it a long time ago. It's probably more likely they just haven't had a new batch made. Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Ken - 12-16-2016 So, Toni wants a new watch, and was looking at this: ![]() From what I can tell, MVMT doesn't look like that reputable of a brand to buy from (looks more like a fashion brand); especially at that price point. Already enlisted Joey's help but any suggestions on something similar from a brand i won't just be throwing money down the toilet? Needs to be leather strap and have that pearl face. Some might be out of stock but that can give you some shopping ideas Re: Lee's Watch Thread for MM'ers of Impeccable Taste - Apoc - 12-16-2016 Go Skagen. I got my wife one and she loves it and gets complements on it. I think I paid like $75 on sale at Nordsttom. Air Blue / Deep Blue must have cut a deal with Jomashop because I found it up on there this morning! http://www.jomashop.com/air-blue-watch-navssblue.html It looks like they have pretty much all of the colors in stock including the alternate vertically-aligned face layout: http://www.jomashop.com/air-blue-watch-navwtblue.html JS isn't offering the usual heavy discount that the AB site offers occasionally but even at $300 it's a great value for what you are getting IMO. I am wearing mine today and went to change the date and it hadn't lost a single second in the 4+ months I have owned it....still dead on with the atomic clock in Ft. Collins Edit: Just another note I noticed...the vertical dial layout (second link) has a Seiko movement, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but if I had a choice of Swiss vs. Japanese I'm going to choose the Rhonda in the one I bought (top one) all day |
