You know what really grinds my gears?!
On the restaurant topic....when you order a cheese steak with hot peppers only to get banana peppers on it. Bitch those are not the same thing. Banana peppers aren't remotely spicy and don't belong on a cheese steak. This has happened to me twice in the last few weeks.

Not my problem you didn't read the TWO page agreement. Also not a difficult concept to understand. If you rent something for 1 month the rate is extremely inflated. If you rent it for 12 the rate is drastically lower incentivizing you to rent it for longer.

Expected Customer to switch to, "Former Customer" halfway through haha.

But yeah, hate that crap. Not my fault that you didn't read the T&C's before making a purchase. If you had any issues with it you probably should have raised them before making the purchase.

Yes this, or when you are extremely clear and upfront with a client about what a service does and does not provide, they call you a month later demanding additional service that we agreed upon would NOT be a part of a contract together. And they want it for free, when in reality it would cost millions of dollars to purchase.

Why does VW rivet their speakers into the doors? Replaced a window regulator for a coworker today and he ordered the part without really knowing what he was getting. Ended up getting an entire door assembly with the regulator connected so I had to swap over the wires and speaker only to find that I had to drill out the rivets and zip tie the speaker into the new door.

Horseradish in balsamic vinaigrette dressing. First of all, horseradish is vile and should not go in any food except for in cocktail sauce. Second, don't mess with something that should be awesome. Balsamic vinaigrette should not need any additional culinary flair

Yeah she walked in all down in the dumps, I'm like here we gooo

She's got this long ass list in front of her from a shop, I instantly know this is gonna be for inspection.

She takes a deep sigh leans on the counter, "so I'm gonna need some things for inspection"

I'm showing her prices and just about everything is somewhere in the $20 range and she's kinda shaky and just saying "okaaaayyy" "aalllright" but with no wind behind her voice. Like she's done.

We get to the shocks and I don't even have to say a word. She sees $117 (per corner) on the screen and the gasps and sobs roll right on. Lawd Jesus. She stands there just staring at the screen for a solid minute. Which is a long ass time let me tell you.

Then she just packs up her papers into her purse, "alright I'm gonna" gawp for air "I'm gonna have to wait on that and check around" as she limps out the door back to her CR-V

In retrospect I guess I feel a little bad.

Where the hell are people getting inspections done? I've never, ever, had my shocks checked. Pull into the bay, flip my lights on, flash my high beams, blinkers, brake lights, reverse lights, 1 out of 5 times they look through one wheel at the front brakes, give the man $20 and get my sticker. 5 minutes, in and out.

My m3 failed at Jenkins in front of pheasant for a hid kit (that worked) and they said my lowering springs weren't tall enough because when the car was at full droop they wiggled around inside the mount. All of this was done by the PO and my normal shop wouldn't pass it because it was already failed. Had to call in favors at the body shop of my normal shop who called another shop behind them who finally slapped a sticker on it.

Had the s2k fail because one of the tires had a broken belt in the sidewall or something causing a small bubble. They tried to sell me a different brand "comparable" tire that cost $80 more than the ones on the car from tire rack. Told em to fail it. Ordered tire. Took wheel to merchant's. Had it mounted and took car back to original shop to get my $1 reinspection.

Motorcycle has always been the biggest issue. It's completely stock and looks brand new and still can never get it inspected. Any shop can do it the cert is the same and covers car and bike. But everyone acts like they can't. The only real issue is them not being able to move it to the stall but you don't have to or I could move it but it's still the biggest pain in the ass. Once I had to have it done on the side of a merchant's because I was cutting in line and supposed to ride it back to school that Sunday. I tipped the guy and everything and got home to find out he put the year it was expiring and not the next year like it was supposed to be. I stopped getting it done in 2013 because my sticker is up on my fork and can't be seen anyways.

Inspections are literally the biggest pain in the ass when you don't pay someone else to do other work or service on your vehicle. It's hard to get them scheduled and the shops are usually pissed about doing inspections only. So that grinds my gears. Vehicle inspections. My truck "fails" every year because a rear reversing/utility light I put in the bumper has a broken lens. It's a light I added but since it's on the vehicle, it must work and not be broken. I'd just pull them off but they are amazingly wedged between the rear bumper rebar and the bumper. I'm not even sure how they fit when I did them but it requires the entire bumper be taken apart including a plastic step pad that all the tabs break when removed. I need to replace it but I don't feel like it and inspections are stupid. I'm running out of favors at my old shop though. It's getting harder and harder to get things inspected.

I'm with you there. Half the states don't even do them. Do VA and others that do have a lower accident rate due to faulty equipment? I sure would like to know, because if not then what the hell is the point? Is it worth half a day's time for each person in the whole state to take their car for inspection? And if shops actually checked all the stuff they were supposed to check, there's no way it's worth their time.

The only real issue I ever had with inspections in VA or NC was with vehicle tint. You want to talk about stupid laws. I always ended up finding a way around it. Here in SC they don't require safety or emissions inspections at all so I no longer have to feel like a criminal or make payments to the mafia just because I want dark windows

WA has no inspection and emissions are only required for cars made before 2009 that are less than 25 years old. Not having to do it is legitimately a quality of life thing.

What's more is any car over 30 doesn't require registration renewal, if you register it as an antique. That means I literally pay nothing for the 911 other than insurance.

This is why states have vehicle inspections

I'm okay with them, unfortunately state tend to go overboard and check shit that just doesn't matter. NY just started auto failing for tints.

It pains me to use NJ as an example of doing something right, but they projected saving the state $11mil/yr and did away with safety inspections in 2010. What's the accident rate done since? Continued it's slow decline.

*Edit* and in looking at the 17 states that do require safety inspections, they don't stand out on a list of crash stats by state:
