Jake Wrote:Rebuilding part of your transmission sounds terrifying. I'll sit that one out. Happy to help with whatever else.
It's really not bad. I did a bearing in the civic and had to take the gear sets out. They even fell apart while out (which wasn't in the how to I was using) and I had to piece them back together. It really is just seeing how it came out and a little common sense.
I would say, make sure you can shift through all the gears before re-joining the cases

Why fix what's not broken -- 3/4 is common in this trans, everything else *seems* fine, but I'll crack it open and see if anything else needs fixing.
oooook, so this has been an unproductive winter for sure. Only thing I've done with the car really is sell off a bunch of shit (shortblock, head, bling Toda header, Sparco EVO, and some other stuff). From the list below, the items in bold are the only things I've gotten done.

FACK... Hoping to pick up a new longblock next weekend if all works out. Going to pull the bday card on the old lady for the ARP stuff + and Samco hoses and that still doesn't put a dent in my list :lol:
Anyways here are some pictures and stuff before I head down to the garage take off my coilovers and get ready to put them up for sale... I must have forgot to put that on the list.

Forgot to mention I got so bored in between waiting for people to pick up parts I sold that I decided to re-do the interior floorboards, and continue gutting the car out so its more of a tin-can. Also if you need to paint something, Rustoleum PROFESSIONAL is the shit! I highly recommend it.

Kaan was nice enough to go pick up a CF hood I found on a Facebook for sale group... oh yeah, and then he was even nicer to gut it for me. This hood is a complete POS, but it was $40 -- gonna need to get some fiberglass work + get it painted as well. Maybe I'll actually have a paint matching front end soon!

Well first things first, picked up the new heart for the hooptie. JDM b16a motor, and yes before you even ask I technically downgraded to a 1.6L from the 1.8 GSR motor...I have a few ideas in mind, but I'll just keep it at that. Was able to somehow find a way to convince a jdm importer shop to sell just the longblock since I will be using my GSR trans + accessories.
Don't mind the dirty engine block - was mid-cleaning it, and really sucks how cold it is so I can't just use the pressure washer. To be noted, using your girlfriend's garment steamer to clean an engine works 'OK'...but she may not be very happy with you.

Sometime last week a buddy of mine put up his Hondata s300 ECU for sale, and I was able to score a sweet deal on it. Lucky for me there is a Honda tuning guru right in MD, so I'll def be taking my car to him. Now to look into that dash display :evil:
Also sold of my blingy Tein RA coil-overs and scored a deal that fill Kaan's heart with hate -- BNIB Koni Race (shortened/revalve for higher spring rates), along with the usual GC + custom spring rates (which should be interesting if I keep them and want to try something new out). No pics since they are still in en' route.
And to close this craptastic post out, here's a picture of my craptastic $40 carbon fiber hood. No I wasn't kidding when I tried to explain how crappy it was..! You can see the aerocatch studs poking out of the hood, really not looking forward to the rest of the cutting and measuring involved to get them to fit.
Hopefully get the previous hood pin holes filled + underside reinforced and then paint matched to the car. Hell might even get the bumper matched as well!

You invited me, you should seriously come up to my house and check out my "paint skills" on the race car. You may change your mind. #becauseracecar actually applies for the first time ever.

Aluminum foil for masking brake lines FTW.. Also, if you spraying anything out of a spraycan, get some hot tap water in a pot and let the cans sit in there for a good 15-20 minutes. Trigger sprays are awesome. Went through 2 cans and then had to go out so I'm letting it "cure" for 48 hrs, then hitting it again with whatever I have left.
Ordered some of this clear-coat: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.com/USC-Spray-Gloss-Clearcoat-Aerosol/dp/B0043B7UQY/ref=sr_1_9?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1394383924&sr=1-9&keywords=clear+coat">http://www.amazon.com/USC-Spray-Gloss-C ... clear+coat</a><!-- m -->

I spoke too soon... thanks to my lovely neighbor + ffx county I'm gonna be limited on getting the issues worked out on the car. Took it for a quick spin around the block and the brakes just feel like shit. Tried to bench bleed the MC again while it was on the car, and will go through the lines again hoping that works.
Have the lovely Honda flucuating idle, which really doesn't help the noise level when I'm trying to set the timing + bleed the cooling system. Le' sigh -- might have to throw in the towel and just let a shop button up the last few items.
