Developed a nice suspension squeak on the right rear. Time to back it into the garage and take a look. I figure with all of the suspension stuff I have done some bolts may have loosened up, or, as some have suggested on the forums, the rear lateral arm bushings are starting to go due to mileage/age.
Need to change to oil too. Vf39 is awesome, runs good with the OTS tune.
Probably gonna keep it for another year and move on, unless the right offer pops up, or it pops.

Already looking ahead ehh?
2 years of ownership is coming up in March, I figure the new car itch may start.
But nothing really interests me at the moment, everything I like is either fun and worthless or fun, practical, and $80k.
Realistically I will end up with something that is new, with a warranty and boring.

check the roll bar links for squeeking and that your tophats haven't loosened in the perches. energy suspension makes a good, super sticky suspension grease that's great for joints....you can get it on amazon

Car ADD
Oh I would love to take this from ya, but i won't
2013 Honda Fit, 1991 Mazda Miata, Princess Blanca, Mystery, 1993 Volvo 940 - sold, 2003 Mazda Protoge5 - carmax'd, 1996 BMW 328is - sold, 1996 Honda Accord - sold
So.........
It seems my unknown mileage (unsure how far over 80k it is) $150 turbo is on its way out.
Not sure if it was the turbos fault, or if the stupid ass mesh screen that Subaru decided to put in the oil feedline is gunked up and starved my td04 and this one as well. My own damn fault if it is the latter, it is a known issue, and I didn't check it cause I am lazy and wanted my car back up and running ASAP.
So if anyone knows of a VF39 for sale with low mileage lemme know. May revert to rebuilding my td04 and going back to stage 2.
This has gotten very discouraging.....I love this car, can't think of anything to replace it at the moment, but I hate working on cars now....
I may put it up for sale after being fixed and if the price is right, let her go. Unless one of you clowns wants to buy it and throw on a turbo for $500ish.
Sold. I'll give you $500ish for the car.

Bummer man, maybe buy a new turbo instead of a used one? I was always really hesitant about buying used parts that were affected by wear and tear, unless they had been cleaned / blueprinted / checked by professionals

replace the VF, stop dicking with it and enjoy the snow.
i don't know if the screen did it in, but they definitely don't help. remove it and carry on with good synthetics.

Kinda hard to blame anything when you use a used part and didn't even check the Achilles heel of the oiling system. I would try a new/reman turbo and check/remove the filter screen and if it gives you a problem after that, sell it.

Do they have a problem with the oil tube also? Some of the outbacks I was looking at had a problem with the oil pickup tube cracking at a weld causing loss in oil pressure. It would be nice to bulletproof the whole thing one last time so you don't have to Crack it open anymore but alas, that takes money, And probably more as opposed to less. I think I remember there's a company that makes a better designed oil line /filter for that engine/turbo and then a better/stronger pickup tube.

its an EJ255/257 problem. impossible to predict and totally random but yes, the pickup tube cracks where it attached to the flange on the engine. its a crappy brazed joint from the factory. i don't know of any N/A cars with the issue, just the turbahs.
Killer B makes a replacement pickup and pan that are bulletproof, and unfortunately cost money.

No longer onyachin.
Initial email was sent to the place the rebuilds VF39s. Within 2 hours I had a response asking for more info and what I am looking for. This was Friday.
Sent response within a few minutes of receiving that email.
Followed up twice and still no response. Left numerous VMs as well.
So if anyone has a recommendation on a place that can rebuild VF39s or TD04s for that matter lemme know.
Same if you have a line on a lightly used version.
Buying new is just silly, $1200 for a new VF39/43. I could get a bigger turbo and a pro tune for that much
