I really liked the IS250 when I drove it. Not a ton of grunt but a well put together car with great seats and ergonomics. Id definately pimp one.
I also drove an IS250 and liked it, but I'd probably pony up for the 350 because it's extremely underpowered. I also really liked the new gen CTS I drove but they get pricey with options you'd want.
LS460s are sick. The new ones are definitely pure luxury...pricey tho!

200hp in a car that bulky is pretty anemic. It was slower than my 200hp IS300 and that's saying a lot.

Sorry It's just always my initial reaction when I hear stuff like that when it's in reference to a daily driver. I mean, not fast enough for... what, commute? Traffic? Parking? Is it going to see the track or street racing or something? Is there some good reason why 0-60 of 7-8 sec isn't enough for a daily driver? I know, I know, it's more pleasurable merging onto the highway and taking off from lights, both of which comprise probably less than 5% of your daily drive and less than .1% of your day. I *sort of* get it, I just don't know why people spend the money to "improve" such a small portion of their lives, unless they're just rolling in cash and have already done everything else. :dunno:

We can agree to disagree on that one. With as much driving as I do and my driving style I wouldn't buy a car with less power than what I'm currently driving. For freeway merging, passing, and occasional fun etc. I want the power to be there. Driving a turd brings no joy to my life. An IS250 is going to get similar gas mileage to what I'm driving now, especially the AWD variant like my brother has.
I'm getting 27-29 on the highway and have more than enough power for a daily driver. Why downgrade in power and get the same fuel efficiency?

lee, i'm with you. i could have saved some money and gotten a golf, but i enjoy a little extra power and style. nobody in this club is driving a prius or corolla so i think it's pretty safe to say we all have our own silly little reasons for driving something more? owning multiple cars isn't for everyone and telling someone they're doing it wrong based on what they happen to drive every day is kinda... dumb?
personally, i think driving myself and/or my children in a 40 year old deathtrap is a far more "WAT!?" move than wanting a slightly faster DD, but you know what they say about opinions...

Why does every smile have to be optimized for maximum value? Sometimes people just want a specific type of smile. 250 hp makes me smile, 3 years later, and I can afford to pay more for those smiles... so I did.

Going from my E34's power numbers (208 hp, 220 torque) -- with it chipped, it might make another 15 of each of those -- there have been times where I'd like around 250 hp just to make it scoot more. Regardless, on stock tune, it would break traction easily enough. With the tune, it chirps tires going 1st-2nd.
The Miata with AC running is almost terrifyingly slow in traffic.
So... I guess it's a power to weight thing, even in a daily. I don't need an M5, but I'd like something more than a 520d.

Most serious want for a DD at this time is an EvoX GSR. Drove my friend's around for a few weeks and loved it.
I see a GT2 in my far future, assuming they still make them.

I have the v10 treg - and don't think I'll get rid of it. great gas mileage, goes anywhere and engine should last a while. So i figure another 5 years with it.
Wife has 10 128i convert. But we lease that guy, and kids are in the 2 year plan, so I want to move her to either a 3 series convert or some sort of 4 door.
Later this year in the winter I will be picking up a new bonk, rsv4 or s1000rr
