Timmy is many steps closer to life now! Motor/trans are installed, not sure what all is still left work-wise, I'll let Jon chime back in there. It's definitely looking good though Big Grin

Can you explain why you oriented the oil filter relocation that way (upside down)? Seems like that's just a good way to make a big mess when you could reverse the orientation and make oil changes easy AND clean.

just to butt in, i believe the oil would drain from the filter once the car is off. probably not too much mess i guess? it may also have been tough to get the lines to bend 180 in the other direction to get a downward position. :dunno:

That's exactly it Scotty. I'm thinking it will drain out as well just by gravity once you drain the car. You're also right about the routing of it... good luck spinning those lines around 180* when they're that short. Plus, this is how the product is shown in the "instructions" lol. All in Japanese, but I'm sure it said something about all the oil getting out in time. Hopefully. The main reason I got it was to mount the oil pressure gauge sensor while still maintaining my stock sensor, so it doesn't throw codes on me.

Are you sure you weren't holding the instructions upside down?

Nice work, looks really good with the painted engine bay too.

One thing you must pay attention to however is oil level. Since it drains out of the oil filter now (and lines) your oil dipstick level will read "higher" than it should be. Meaning if your car speced 6.3 quarts, remember that was iwth the filter, and thats what your dipstick "indicates". However now that the filter "wont" be there for holding oil, the oil drains back into the pan, indicating higher

So if you fill it up using the dipstick now, when the car is running the amount of oil in the engine will be effectively less. So now you should technically overfill the dipstick to get the same amount of "running" oil.

any reason the IC piping is like that as well, seems loopy for no reason, unless it was a kit designed for the accessories in which you arent running?

Thanks man... haha. and yes, it was right side up. wait. unless they just recently started putting valve covers on the top of the head.

Well I have an early model s13 SR, and an s14 chassis. They sell intercooler kits for either chassis, but with the motor that was intended for that chassis (since they have different throttle body positions and other differences). So that's part of the reason, cause I'm having trouble getting intake piping to work since it's kind of loopy and such. But honestly, it's not that far off from how many of the kits are sold and supposed to be. Seems kinda wavy and all to me too :dunno:

Very good point. Something my buddy drew to my attention when I was installing. I'll just add a bit over the full line. Not too much. But good call'

And no sweat Blair, another time man. We'll cruise when I get to drive her Smile

Just got the car started yesterday. I'm still working on getting my intake piping figured out, because I still need the turbo inlet... but I'm getting it registered later this week, and should be bringing it to JMU a week or two after we go back Smile

Car was running real rich cause we bypassed the turbo completely by just sticking the intake pipe, maf, and filter straight to the throttle body, instead of running intercooler and all. So i was running NA last night for a little; just in the garage though. Car ran pretty well despite the added fuel and I'm so siked to get it out on the road.

Car has no leaks whatsoever! After running it for a solid 30 minutes in the garage, the floor still stayed clean and stuff. Hoping it stays that way Smile But I'm just happy the HG sealed! haha That was probably my biggest worry

Made it to JMU Smile haha. I was a little worried about the drive. Failed inspection for a couple things, but they're fixable. I've got a small boost leak that better clamps and some hairspray is going to fix this week. Small leaks are getting checked out, but other than that it runs great!
