New t-shirt design.
Senor_Taylor Wrote:I guess so. We'll revise it next year. I tried my best, but it's harder to find a graphic designer than you think. The current officers don't have the hookups the past ones did. And Kaan, you can't say that. Go back over the past year of me being on here, I've tried to be nice and appease everyone (read back through this thread.) Don't do me like that and say I've always been this cut and dry.

I've read the thread... over the last year you have ignored every single suggestion.

Well I'm sorry you don't like the shirt, but it is relatively minor if the club is healthy and bringing in new students.

Getting new members is not a gauge of the health of the club. What I would define as "healthy" is retaining members. So they pay dues and only show up to one meeting, never to be seen again. That's not "healthy". This is a problem MM has always struggled with but you have to remember a lot of the "health" of this club comes from it's core ALUM base. Look on the forums, look at the events and you'll realize the ALUMS are here to give criticisms, support, money, what have you because we know what it takes to keep the club "healthy". It's all about presentation. You have to present the club in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE to ensure continued growth and quality growth at that.

When we bitch about t-shirts or officers or how we think the latest car concept is fucking stupid it's because we care. We care about the growth of the club and the quality of the members. If you look through the introductions forum you'll see lots of "new" members but if you did an analysis of the people who "joined" to the folks who actually participate the margins are slim.

Quality people is what drives a quality club. People who bitch, complain, and are always questioning WHY at things (Current students & ALUMS) are what keeps driving the club on. PUN INTENDED.

/grumpy status.

jus throwing my two cents in: club health to me is a good car show (to raise awareness) and new members coming to off-campus events (since this was originally a motorsports club).

ultimately, a terrible t-shirt design doesn't much matter. people who see it worn on campus will get the idea. if it piques their interest, they'll look into the club regardless. i will, however, part by reiterating how terrible that shirt design is. i'm no good at art, but could have done better with five minutes and paint shop pro circa 1995.

We likely have our own ideas of what "healthy" means, but if the current officers are getting interest from new students, (and hell if I know, I'm pretty absent these days) then that's like half the battle. And the rest of what to do is up to the current members and their definition of "motorsports".
A successful motorsports club does not have to have a car show or apparel department. Of course, the brand is important to club identity, and the shirt is one way to display that, so I understand people care. But the logo and colors haven't changed in 15 years, and we still have stickers, every previous generation of apparel, and I'm sure more to come... so that strikes me as pretty good. And some in the club like the shirt. So go rustle somewhere else already!

you're going to hit a roadblock with trying to execute on your ideas as your ideas start to outpace your skill with illustrator/photoshop. its going to get frustrating and suck. i'd rather not see new officers suffer.

any update on the hunt for an artist? you guys have some new members, could you possibly trawl the contacts you can all bring together and find someone willing to take a few hours? i promise you, college artists are desperate for a portfolio booster and will eat anything. beer, pizza, and a free shirt. done.

again, i wish i could help, but i can barely fit 4 hours of sleep into my days as it is.

I have no clue who's friend it was, but we had a girl do this one. I've asked people to ask around but it's a tough search. I guess I can try again for next year.
