My 1986 Monte Carlo worth like maybe 10-12k is 286/6 mos, 1999 F250 that is nothing special is 375, and the 2013 cadillac is 607/6 months.
I think the coverage on them all is 100/300k and 250 deductibles.
I had a ticket like, 6 years ago..hit a deer like 4 years ago...is that really what's driving my claims? For the record, this is state farm, and i also have two houses insured with them. I did shop around the house insurance last year and they were good on that..not sure what's going on with my auto.
I have State Farm right now and yes their home insurance (in this area at least) was by far the most competitive, but I grudgingly switched back to them on auto from Esurance after Esurance wanted to raise our rates again. Where State Farm gets you is the discount on home if you have auto. It makes it a lot more competitive, but if you don't have the bundle their rates are significantly more on home. State Farm finally dropped their car rates here in SC so I went ahead and signed up for them again. The bundle saved me like $450+ per year on my home insurance

State farm wants like $636 every 6 mos for my wife's 2008 Elantra. That's with 2 other cars on the policy. They did the old bait and switch with the s2000. Quoted me $100 less than what they charged when I actually went to insure it. It lowered the truck to like 373 every 6mos with the multi car but think I'm still getting a little screwed. It's like $600 for the s2k. Can't understand how they want more for The Elantra. Especially since it's adding a third car for two drivers.
The multi policy discount definitely made state farm competitive on the home insurance though. Still shopping around and sounds like travelers beat them by like $60 a year but state farm does the 20% over the value of home thing and it'd be nice to have all my policy's in one place. Need to talk to them about why Elantra is so high. Would have been like $1000 a year without auto being with State farm too. Originally my real estate agent said don't even bother with State farm because so expensive (before he knew auto was with them) but he was very surprised when I told him rate.

So it seems the E36 is a lot more expensive to insure than my E30s were. I'm paying $216 a month for Full Coverage on the GTI and Liability on the E36. Does that seem a bit excessive? I'm 23. I guess I'll start shopping around, just need to separate personal feelings from it since my agent has always been helpful.
Do you have accidents on your record? Tickets? That reckless driving ticket is likely not doing you any favors. What kind of coverage do you have? What is your deductible? You aren't really giving us any relevant info to go on.

Shop around. Loyalty tends to get you very little in the insurance world.

i've also found that any tickets you receive or claims you file have a delayed affect. The increase in premiums will typically occur when your policy renews or even the one after the immediate renew post-incident/claim due to delays in filing.
That being said; i'd shop around. Just make sure you try to compare apples to apples when it comes to deductibles and coverages so you can get a good comparison.
Always shop around. That reminds me I got a rolling a stop sign ticket that's about to drop off and I need to shop again in March.

SHOP around, although I still tend to stick with the larger well-known companies.
Also call, call again, price out online, then call again. 4 separate quotes with Geico and went with the cheapest. I pay comprehensive on the diesel truck and LR4 at $69 a month.
How much did the E36 jump you? Might want to consider Hagerty or Heacock for your E36 since it's just mostly track duty. For $40k, its about $220 a year for me; and I think for up to 3kmiles/year It was only $78 more ($298 total per year).

This is also where you can just get an insurance broker. Let them do the legwork for you, no cost.

Yeah, I honestly don't know what my coverages are. I've changed my policy at least 10-15 times in the last 12 months due to buying and selling so many things. I'll work on getting that figured out and do some calling around for quotes. Not sure how low mileage the E36 will be, but I drive it a good amount now.
^^^ Got some quotes. This month's Nationwide bill came out to $300, I guess because of something weird with the E30.
Geico so far has the best quote at $120 a month for the GTI and E36. Waiting to hear back from Erie.
I can't ever seem to find anybody better than Geico. I pay ~$340/6months for the 4runner and SV. Everyone else wants almost double for that.

We switched to Geico about 6 months ago after Erie kept increasing our rates despite bundling our home and auto with them and being customers for a few years. It was cheaper to leave our home with Erie and move auto to Geico, but we are looking to bundle it all and are shopping around now. We'll see what happens.

I was with Geico for a while and the one ticket shot my premium 2.5x. That ticket has since fallen off, probably should shop around again.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I'd been dragging my feet on re-quoting insurance. When I added the benz Allstate wanted $700+ for 6 months for it. Brought the Van, suv and wagon up to 1400/6 months. Progressive, with increased liability and a lower deductible was $535/6 months. Still need to move homeowners since allstate will scrap the 40% discount they were 'giving' me, but gotdang that's a significant change in rates.
Gave allstate a chance to match, and the guy was like, there's nothing I can do, go with them. Doesn't' seem to make the best business sense, but whatever.

we switched over to AAA after insuring through Allstate for 15 years. what initially led to it was that Allstate wouldn't insure the camper, like wouldn't even attempt to consider it. however, after looking at the numbers, AAA was similar but we got much better, more personal service through AAA and of course all the roadside and travel perks that they're already known for. Allstate was slowly raising our rates and wouldn't cut us any breaks despite nearly half our family having pretty long-term accounts with them...so they can piss off.
a side-anecdote that also played into it is how Allstate has treated my SIL. last year she got hit, hard, by another driver (his fault) who is ALSO an Allstate customer, but he was likely under some kind of influence. he lawyered up, and has dragged out his trial forever and Allstate's own people are battling each other in endless arbitration. its been a year and my SIL still hasn't gotten settlement on their totaled car (not that Allstate hasn't tried to throw them disturbingly cheap settlement offers) OR her permanently injured wrist...and they're self employed, as if dealing with insurance costs and hoops to jump through aren't already hard enough. their replacement car and all med bills so far have had to come out of their pocket. i can't do business with those jackwagons anymore.
